I spent 2hrs testing the Samsung Series 5 (530u3B) in front of an audience this evening – the best way to review! We didn’t find any showstoppers but we did find an empty memory slot. You can see an upgrade to 8GB in the fourth video in the playlist below but in the other three videos I give you a deep dive into the Series 5.

Here’s the unboxing video. You can find out more about the Samsung Series 5 from previous testing articles and the database. We will be doing a live review of this Ultrabook tomorrow. Details here. Unboxing and overview, comparison and information on a free software package below.

Update: Session is over now. Videos of the Samsung Series 5 livestream review are available here. I’m back from CeBIT and have two new Ultrabooks here; the Samsung Series 5 13” and the Toshiba Z830. There’s only one thing to do, readers, and that’s to get the live cam on them, show you around them, do a live review and let you ask questions. If you want to find out more about these two devices, or just chat about Ultrabooks in general, join me tomorrow (Sat 10th March) at 2100 CET […]

The Acer S3 isn’t the best looking Ultrabook. I think most agree on that but this Champagne-coloured version is a step in the right direction, especially with the high-contrast keyboard which fixes one of the minor complaints I had about the original S3. In this video I give you a quick overview of the changes. I’m assuming the S3-391 is available immediately.

Well this is odd. No doubt you’ve heard by now that Apple has just announced the latest refresh of the iPad, but for some reason they aren’t calling it the ‘iPad 3’. This update includes nothing particularly revolutionary, but that’s not to say that they didn’t just up the bar. See the new iPad tracking page in our mobile product database for full specifications, links, gallery, and more. Everything major added to the ‘new’ iPad can be summed up in one sentence: it’s got 4G LTE, a 2048×1536 ‘retina’ display, […]

Here I am, typing on a Toshiba Z830 in a quiet environment. What can I hear? Nothing! If you haven’t read my review of the Toshiba Z830, you might want to go through it because the only major problem with the Z830 was the fan noise. Toshiba have now fixed the fan noise and turned the Z830 into the best gen-1 Ultrabook. At least in my opinion! I’m testing the BIOS 1.6 fix (a simple automated download via the Toshiba Service Station application) on a Z830 that Intel has given […]

The LGNote X330 is a smart-looking Ultrabook that I’d really like to get in for a review as soon as possible. In a short testing period today at CeBIT I was able to test the keyboard and screen, take a look at the build quality and ports. Unfortunately there’s a micro-sd card slot instead of a full SD card slot which limits its usability. Overall though it seems to have some really good quality features. The keyboard feels really nice and the screen pops nicely. Check out more in the […]

Touch is coming! I think myself and a number of other tech bloggers have written that more than once over the last 5 or so years but in this case, in 2012, we’ve got a market that appears to be primed, hardware that can take advantage of it and operating systems that are build around it. I’m not talking about Android or IOS tablets, I’m talking about Windows PCs. With Windows 8 looking towards mobile touch and the Ultrabook and Tablet platforms from Intel and AMD pushing in that direction […]
