Leaked all the way back in February, the Zenbook refresh news was exciting for many. Full HD displays and a backlit keyboard sounded like the perfect way to improve the popular ASUS Zenbook Ultrabook. At that point we didn’t know if it was going to be a refresh that included the CPU too. Ivy Bridge confirmation followed-up in March and the real deal, the ASUS Zenbook Prime, was seen for the first time in May. Laptopmag.com have now come through with a review of the Zenbook Prime UX31A, and it’s […]

I’ve read the white paper multiple times, spoken to most of the people in this video and thought long and hard about the technology. I’m a fan and a believer that the pixel wars have just started. I just hope this method hasn’t been completely locked up in patents. Watch the video below to get a good feel for what the 808 can do.

Intel’s Ultrabook campaign is quite rapidly transforming what consumers can expect from a PC laptop. They’ve driven prices and weight down, and performance and features up. I’d argue that PC laptops are looking the best that they have in recent memory thanks to Intel’s Ultrabook project. But that’s just the hardware. On the software side, we’re still dealing with Windows and the same frustrations it’s shown us for several years now. It looks like Ultrabooks may indeed be catching Apple’s attention. Bloomberg reports that Apple will be launching refreshed versions of the MacBook Pro which will use Ivy Bridge processors, have a slimmer body, high resolution retina display, and include “flash memory to cut startup times and extend battery life”.

A lot has been said about Ivy Bridge, the 3rd generation Intel Core compute platform and the platform that will go into the 2nd Generation of Ultrabooks. Although the CPU core remains largely the same as in the ‘Sandy Bridge’ platform, it’s going to be manufactured with the next generation process at 22nm. That means lower power usage and more space for other goodness on the die and that’s exactly what Intel have done. They’ve taken the opportunity to vastly improve the graphics and media subsystem. You’ll hear about ‘70%’ […]

Brazilian manufacturer CCE Info has just launched a 2nd-Gen Ultrabook. It will be running an Ivy Bridge Core i7 CPU and offer a DVD writer in a 20mm package. From the side it looks pretty unique. From the other angles, you might be reminded of another notebook though.
