We’ve just finished watching the AMD press event from Computex which was 100% about AMD APUs. Trinity extends down to Ultrathins and we even saw a dockable hybrid demonstrated. Update: Video of Compal Hybrid below. In a well executed press event by AMD in Tapei today, AMD pushed ultrathins and hybrids as two of the form factors made possible by AMD APUs, Trinity and Brazos 2.

Fujitsu has announced the Lifebook UH572 and U772 Ultrabooks featuring a 13.3″ or 14″ screen respectively. The sleek U772 is a mere 15mm thick and has a tiny bezel, while the somewhat less expensive UH572 is a bit thicker at 18mm. Both are based on Ivy Bridge and both will be available in the US!

A new Ultrabook has quietly gone live within Dell’s world. The Dell Inspiron 14Z Ultrabook is showing in Dell stores across Australia and Asia and is a little bit confusing. It’s at the 21mm limit for 14” Ultrabooks and it weighs a relatively heavy, no, very heavy, 2.37KG. Base pricing is coming in at the equivalent of about 1000 US dollars depending on the country. Toshiba US have just released two videos showing the U845 and U845W that will be available in the US market. No surprise, the EU versions – U840 and U840W – were made public earlier today. Detailed specifications aren’t given but you can be sure there aren’t too many differences between the EU and US versions. Video below.

The Toshiba Z930 is to be the next generation version of the popular (at least here in the office) Toshiba Z830. Ivy Bridge is clearly the main upgrade here as the design and ports match exactly what was seen on the Z830.

The NEC Lavie Z is another 1KG Ultrabook but this isn’t an 11.6” model, this is a 13.3” one. The specifications have just been discovered and we think you’re going to like it!
