WiDi Pro could bring Wireless Collaboration in 2013

Intel’s Wireless Display (WiDi) offering has been through a number of improvements over the last few years and the current V3 offers some interesting low-latency, USB-return-path and protected content features. In a new WiDi Pro version though, outed by Rick Echevarria, vice president of Intel’s Architecture Group in an interview with ITPro, you’ll see screen to screen collaboration.

ZaReason Linux ultralight Gets Test

We’ve only reported on three Linux-related Ultrabooks since we started Ultrabooknews. We highlighted the Novatech nfinity as a potential candidate as it was available without an OS. Then there was the Dell Sputnik project which is supposed to have been offering a product in ‘fall’ but hasn’t delivered yet. Finally there’s the complete off-the shelf solution being offered by ZaReason UltraLap 430 – an OEM design that we’re seeing under quite a few brands now. Arstechnica have gone hands-on with it and put together a review. They seem quite happy.

Chinese VR-Zone published, back in August, what looks like a roadmap for Haswell which might be worth thinking about if you’re waiting for news of next-gen Ultrabooks. One of the most exciting recent Ultrabooks, the Acer Aspire S7, was somewhat lost amid the huge number of Windows 8 Ultrabooks launched in the last few weeks. Now that the dust has settled, the 13″ version of the Acer S7 is available starting at $1350 and some early reviews have hit the web. If you’re looking for a premium touchscreen Ultrabook, you should certainly be checking out the S7!
