At 499 Euro, including docking station and up to 18hrs battery life, the Acer Iconia W510 CloverTrail tablet (32GB) is somewhat of a bargain in Europe. Price and positioning is different in the USA but you can still get the tablet with 64GB storage for $599. It’s also the lightest Windows 8 PC in the world which makes it pretty interesting for mobile users. Although Juniper research have predicted that 178 million Ultrabooks will ship in 2016, they’ve also predicted that 20 million will sell in 2012. ABI Research have just issued a similar number but include Apple products in that figure. Meryl Lynch predicted 15 Million Ultrabooks. Data from ISI indicates 10 million. Isuppli had predicted over 20 million in 2012 but revised that to 10 million recently in an attention-seeking report.

Revolve. It sounds better than 2730p doesn’t it! The HP Elitebook Revolve is the latest in a long history of HP TabletPCs but with its new name and an Ultrabook-focused design it looks like HP want to make this, like Lenovo are doing with their Thinkpad Twist, a product that appeals to pro-sumers and business customers alike. GottaBeMobile have had hands-on with the new twist-screen convertible which is currently planned for the end of Q1 2013

Dell is now offering the XPS 13 Developer Edition Ultrabook with Ubuntu Pre-installed. The release is the culmination of ‘Project Sputnik‘, an initiative to create a fully supported build of Ubuntu for developers that would work with the Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook. The project started back in May when Dell asked the developer community what they wanted in a laptop.
