Despite the name, iRacing is not for iOS devices. Actually it’s quite the opposite — iRacing is a realistic racing simulator on PC for hardcore fans of the racing genre. The game, which has typically relied on wheel or joystick input, has been updated for tilt and touch control by Ultrabooks with built-in sensors. iRacing developer David Tucker walks us through the dev process.

In a report issued yesterday, iSuppli is predicting that 45 million SSD, cache SSD and Hyrid HDD solutions will ship for Ultrabooks and ultrathins in 2013 indicating a huge 4X jump over 2012. Isuppli is predicting that despite a contraction of the PC market but that a flattening off of interest for ‘superthins’ will ‘take-off’ in the second half of 2013.

Dospara, a Japanese company, are offering the Note Erdes Bookk ST1. Recognise it? Yes Epson are offering the same model as the Endeavor NY10S which, in turn is the MSI S20. With a local price of about 1120 dollars it comes with Core i5, 4GB and 128GB SSD.

The Endeavor S series NY10S is now available in Japan at the Epson Direct Shop. It’s a slider in the style of the MSI S20 which offers a near – laptop experience along with tablet capability.

I’ve had the Asus Fonepad for just over 2 days and in that time I’ve been through the OS, the built-in ASUS applications, downloaded my usual suite of Android apps, I’ve run a few performance reports and even written a blog post with it. I’ve tested video playback and found limitations and issues. It’s clear that the Fonepad isn’t a top performer but it returns a very smooth and enjoyable experience for nearly all operations. The Asus Fonepad arrived this morning and the unboxing video is already up. Apart from a casing that wasn’t properly seated, everything seems to be working well and it confirms that the Asus Fonepad is excellent value. I’ll be doing comparisons with my 2+ year old Galaxy Tab to see how far the tablet space has come in that time. The Fonepad is running on an Intel Atom x86 CPU for a start! Prices have come down dramatically , the software has improved and screens are much better.

The winner of the Perceptual Computing competition has just been announced by Intel The Ultimate Coder Challenge put seven teams together and challenged them to make showcase applications for a Lenovo Yoga 13 Ultrabook and the Creative sensor hardware, in seven weeks. We watched with amazement at how much the teams learnt, wrote, developed and optimised their apps.
