We’ve already heard that all Ultrabooks based on 4th-Gen Core (Haswell) will have to have WiDi capability and touchscreens but PCWorld have just published some more details from Intel.

It’s not like we weren’t expecting this. We had a good idea last September and wrote about Haswell’s potential to increase battery life back in Jan. Intal have released some slides today that show some more details. The new Core i7-4650U, a 15W TDP part, could offer 50% more video playback time over the Core i7-3667U (which Intel cheekily calls a 20W TDP platform now that it matters!) It’s the same story as we saw on Intel Clovertrail last year and that improvement is likely to rise for smaller-screen Ultrabooks […]

It’s finally happened. Intel’s 4th-Gen Core has launched. At time of writing we’re not seeing any news direct from Intel and it looks like only quad-core reviews are being let out of the gate for the time being but there’s one important bit of news we’re picking up and that’s that products with Haswell inside will be available starting 4th June. We like CloverTrail. It’s the only connected-standby capable X86 platform on the market and it blows every other Windows-capable platform out of the water when it comes to battery life but in terms of processing power it’s not quite enough to satisfy most people on a day-to-day basis. I’ve recently been testing AMD Temash and with about 2X the all-round processing performance it’s enough to satisfy most people. It’s efficient, but unfortunately you lose that CS-capability, the mark of an energy efficient Windows platform. At the top end of the efficiency-focused […]
