There have been some signature devices that have stood out with the release of Windows 8 – the Asus Transformer Book, Lenovo ThinkPad Helix, Microsoft Surface Pro, Acer S7 and now with the XPS 11 Dell seems to have come up with another good option for Ultrabook users.

Video should be here (20 minutes after this update!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSmH9iIzIDE Update: Sorry everyone, the live session this evening is cancelled. Will upload a video in a few hours that answers some of the questions in the comments. Again, sorry! Sony’s Engineering on Haswell-based Ultrabooks and tablets has been top-notch so far. The most popular video of the last month for us was that of the Dell Venue 8, soft-launched at IDF last month. OK, we got quite the exclusive on it but even so, of the four consumer-focused Baytrail-T tablets we’ve seen so far, it looks like it has the most professional edge to it. At 1200 in New York today, Dell will be launching the full range of Dell Venue devices. It will include a new Dell Venue 11 Pro too. We haven’t reported on that yet, but take a […]

UMPCPortal has been active since 2007 and has its roots in sites started with Origami in 2006. DUring 2010 and 2011 the site was almost dead but that changed with the introduction of the Clovertral tablets at the end of 2012. Finally in 2013 we’re seeing sub 10-inch Windows devices again. News and traffic levels have picked up across the board and although the market has changed, it’s just as important to talk about ultra-mobile PCs. They’re still the most flexible, dynamic and professional devices around. As a result, UMPCPortal […]

If there’s one device in the market that messes with my head it’s the Sony Vaio Tap 11. It’s a 11.6-inch tablet built on an Ultrabook platform so I write about it at Ultrabooknews. It’s also a 780gm Windows tablet running core so therefore an Ultra Mobile PC! Argh! Pricing for the Tap 11 makes the issue even harder because it starts at a tempting 799 Euros. All the Sony Vaio Tap 11 specifications are now in the database along with new images, my hands-on video and links to other […]

The Sony Vaio Tap 11 is, in my opinion, one of the technology engineering feats of 2013. An 11.6-inch tablet weighing 780 grams / 1.72 pounds is impressive enough but when it runs a Core i5…you’ve got something very special and in fact, something I believe will be more popular than the Microsoft Surface Pro for a number of reasons. As for the price, it’s competitive.
