Following a tip-off that the Acer W4 might actually be shipping in Asia we took a deeper dive into search results and although we can’t confirm the Iconia W4 is shipping it does seem there are some prototypes doing the rounds. An article from Japan gives us some nice pics, comparison with the Iconia W3 and a look at the device manager. There’s an Acer Singapore product page ‘in the wild’ too. The Acer Iconia W4 is being promoted as a portrait-mode tablet which makes sense given its handheld sizing. […]

T The Lenovo Ideapad Flex 14 comes with a Haswell (latest) Core i5 4200U CPU, 128GB of SSD, 10-point multitouch and a rotating display. Just one year ago, that sort of specification would have set you back 1000 Euro. Today, €699 (€587 pre-tax, RRP)

Acer must be close to shipping the Iconia W4 Baytrail tablet. Not only has their website leaked the specs and price but Acer Maysia have confirmed the W4 for December. We’ve added the full specifications to the database here and we’ll start tracking and adding more information as we see it. RRP for the 32GB version is $329.99 but there are a couple of things to note. The battery is a 2-cell, 4960mAh unit which would normally be 34Wh but that just sounds way too big. We think Acer have […]

1.3KG with 11.6-inch screen. If that’s outside your target range for an ultra mobile PC, move on. If not, pay close attention because the Yoga 11S is an interesting touch-convertible with a Core i3 CPU that turns in some excellent all-round performance figures. Battery life and quality are up there too and to top it all off, you can get it for $699. From video editing to 2nd-screen sofa activity, it’s highly capable. It’s easy to summarise the review that we’ve just published over at Ultrabooknews (in theory, this is […]

The Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11S in review here is a current Ultrabook, in previous generation form. The new Haswell versions are feeding-in but this Ivy Bridge version is on offer at $699 so it makes an attractive hybrid of great quality and mobility even more interesting. Ben reviewed the Core i7 version in July but we have the Core i3 version with 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 11.6-inch version here now. It’s mostly a great experience but there are, as always, considerations. Read on to see if the Lenovo Yoga 11S […]

Dual-OS. It’s a possible solution that could bridge the differences between Windows and leading mobile operating systems if it’s done right. ASUS already teased us with us the dual-OS ATIV-Q but it looks like there’s a smaller tablet offering coming. The M80T has been spotted going through testing at the FCC. The dual-OS variants are labelled M82T, L82T and R82T ‘Dual-OS’ and that, my friends, is really all there is to know right now.

This is a post by Surface Pro 2 owner Hector Gomez who shares his battery life report after one month of usage… When Microsoft announced the first Surface Pro it got hit with many reviewers claiming battery life was only around 3.5 hours. I personally got a good 5 hours, and yes, if I watched a lot of videos on it, it did drop down. Though I was able to get a full work day use out of it I accepted I would always have to carry the power supply […]

[Guest post by David Gilson] While Microsoft is going all-in with its “Modern UI”, the dual nature of Windows 8 is still trying the patience of many. This is partly due to the fact that most consumer laptops lack a touchscreen. Fortunately, Chippy was kind enough to loan me his 2013 Harris Beach developer Ultrabook after seeing me bemoan the “dual nature” of Windows 8. Here’s how a touchscreen device has changed my feelings about Redmond’s tiled interface.
