It’s just minutes after Apple have announced the iPad Pro and I have a feeling that most of you will have heard the news already, but here’s a lot more detail. A 12.9-inch 2732 x 2048 screen with an A9X CPU inside. The iPad Pro has ‘desktop class’ performance. Clearly the Surface Pro 4 has competition. We have the iPad Pro specifications in our database. Available in November from $799. Image set below and more information being updated after the gallery. (That’s a 38.5 Wh battery configuration in the image […]

The Vaio Z Canvas 12 is an amazing bit of engineering. It’s a 1.2 KG / 2.66 pound tablet with stand and keyboard cover which doesn’t sound like anything different…until you learn that this beast will run a K-series quad-core 47 W Haswell processor. Holy smoking tablets Batman!

IFA 2015 was as fun and as busy as ever. I managed to get quality hands-on time with a lot of new ultramobile PCs (mostly without the pressure of press-event chaos) and had some great conversations, both public and private, with companies working in the sector. Thanks to Intel for their blogging facilities and an amazing party, Acer for the bright and spacious video-friendly booth and Microsoft for a good evening of networking. Having said that, I didn’t see what I wanted to see.

Last week I wrote about the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and how it could drive adoption of the Windows 10 Mobile ‘smartphone’ as a core computing device for all consumer needs, whatever the screen-size or input method. The Lumia 950 rumor and that image of the USB-C dock brought back memories of the Continuum demo at BUILD 2015 and it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to see that extending into barebones laptops driven by Windows 10 Mobile devices. At IFA I saw another interesting accessory. It’s not a smartbook but could […]

IFA 2015 has brought us a range of new and upgraded convertible PCs but the one that I’ve had at the top of my list for a while is the Acer Switch 11V which seems to offer just the right balance of features for a Core M 2-in-1. The problem is that Lenovo are launching the Miix 700 which might be an even better option because it uses the latest Core M generation. The Acer Switch 11V has taken so long to get to market that it’s still using the […]

After testing the Archos Flip (which doesn’t look like a Lenovo Yoga BTW!) I’m disappointed that Archos are only planning to release this in France. Obviously if it sells well it will move to other European countries but I doubt it will happen this year. Here’s a rundown of my hands-on experience with it.

The ASUS Transformer Book T100 gets a good upgrade with the T100HA. Atom X5 and a 4GB RAM option move it into more serious territory and USB-C is going to be helpful but there’s little change in the working fascia. Will ASUS be able to get away with a 1280 x 800 screen in 2016? Check out the video below.

This will be the number one question that people will have when they look at the Lenovo Miix 700. How’s the keyboard? I went very hands-on at IFA to find out.
