An impressive-looking Fujitsu Lifebook U904 model with Win 8 Pro, 14-inch 3200×1800 IGZO touch screen, VPro, 10GB RAM, 4G, 256GB SSD, fingerprint reader, weighing, 1.39KG and offering up to 8 hours of battery life is going to cost you 1800 Euros after tax but wow, it’s looking like a very impressive bit of professional Ultrabook.
In a quick test at the Fujitsu Forum 2013 I found the touchpad and keyboard to be good and the build quality excellent. There’s a docking port underneath and they’ve even squeezed a full-size Ethernet port into the thin frame. The battery size is 45Wh which isn’t huge but with Haswell is good enough for 8 hours of light Web work (with SSD) in my experience. My hands-on video below is worth watching if you’re looking for a high-end Ultrabook.
Prices for the entry level (no VPro, i5-4200U CPU, 4GB RAM, no 3G/4G) will obviously be lower but don’t expect it to break through the $1000/1000 Euro point. My choice would be a non VPro Core i5 with 8GB RAM, in red of course but to be honest, I don’t know that I want 3200×1800.
Note that 2GB RAM is on board and there’s one memory slot for 2,4 or 8GB modules.
