The Fujitsu T904 is my kind of Ultrabook. I’m a big fan of the swivel form factor despite that ever present issue of the flex and possible weak-point that the single-point screen hinge introduces. You wouldn’t believe how useful it is to flip the screen round just to show someone an image. With a digitizer you’ve also got an impressive lay-flat tablet. If you’ve got a non-slip surface, the T904 even works in easel mode.
At 1.49KG it’s exceptionally light for a 13.3-inch convertible but it’s not light enough to be a casual tablet.
The base version comes with a 320GB SSD-cached hard drive and Core i5 4200U but you’ll also find encrypted SSD’s, VPro, smartcard reader and 8GB RAM options. The screen is at 2560×1440 but I can not confirm it’s using IGZO technology. Big trackpad, good keyboard and a good range of ports make this a professional all-round 2-in-1.
Starting price is around 1600 Euros which gives you an idea of where this is being targeted. Like all the latest Fujitsu products, it’s business-first.
There’s a PDF datasheet for the T904 available here.
It is IGZO, look at the homepage.
I love this device, this could be excatly what I’m looking for: Digitizer, high res, good battery life, 13,3″, lightweight – great!
Please make a live session with that device, Chippy! :)
Well except for the price this is a very attractive unit. It seems to have everything I’m looking for – especially a user replaceable battery.
I’ll be watching to see if there are any weaknesses. I’d have to dig deep to spend this much money on a 2 in 1 laptop but I simply can’t find anything else that has all of these features.
Do you know what digitizer it uses? Is it Wacom?
Wacom maybe? That’s what the T902 has.
whatever this thing is, it is not lightweight. My sony vaio 13 is 1,0 kg , and 13,3 inch screen. This thing is 13,3 inch and 1,5 kg. That is HEAVY, not lighweight. Good luck to Fujitsu with further research…
It’s better to compare to Sony Vaio Duo 13 (with digitizer screen), which is 1.3kg instead. Still, Duo 13 does not offer an option for WWAN and has a lower resolution screen (and uses n-trig digitizer vs wacom). Oh, it doesn’t have a regular SODIMM slot, user-upgradable hard drive or removable battery either :)
And, it restricts your laptop functionality since you can’t tilt the screen as you please.
Of course, Sony is the king of lightweight and long battery life, but you have to compare apples to apples.
Just compare this to MacBook Pro 13 Retina: about the same weight, but look at all the features T904 has!
does your vaio have a digitizer? No! So, your Vaio is not interesting at all for me, I want 13,3 inch + digitizer
WHEN WILL THIS BE RELEASED???
this thing is gonna be expensive as hell ):
thanks for reviewing tho
Any word on release date?
I haven’t checked this week and I haven’t had any notifications. Sorry.
Perfect machine it is!
The Sony Vaio has a digitizer, too. So if you are looking for a lightweight Tablet with a long-life battery, take the Sony Vaio.
But if you require a keyboard always, try the T904.
