Toshiba Kirabook was the first Ultrabook with a display resolution higher than full HD, coming with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution and it has now been upgraded with Intel’s 4th generation CPU, bringing improved battery life and graphics to compete with the current wave of ultra high res Ultrabooks.
The original Kirabook was powered by Intel’s Ivy Bridge processor and the move to Haswell has brought improvements in battery life, which now is rated at 9 hours and also improved graphics. Otherwise the newer model still comes with the same size 13.3 inch, factory color-calibrated PixelPure panel protected by Corning Concore Glasss for the touchscreen option and magnesium alloy chassis.
Storage and memory can be configured up to a 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM respectively, while Toshiba’s Platinum service is included as standard and provides features such as 24×7 phone support, 2 year warranty and annual tune ups as well as bundled software from Adobe, Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11. DTS tuned Harman Kardon speakers should make for a pleasant listening experience on the KIrabook.
Pricing starts at $1,499.99 and should be available from online retailers and Toshiba direct starting mid February.
