Bloggers have been getting excited about those ‘tablets’ again.
The X2 (available in 10 and 12″ formats) is nothing more than a 1.6Ghz Atom device running a desktop OS without a keyboard. In effect, a large format UMPC.
We like the idea that tablets are coming out of the woodwork but we’re trying to remain balanced. Devices like these aren’t for the mass market. The UI, size and battery life just isn’t in the right ballpark for the average consumer.

Its a shame microsoft didn’t (will never release) the courier. It seems like a real good convergence device.

Are there any upcoming 5-7 inch slates/tablets that will be using some sort of multi-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPUs like on the Nvidia Tegra 250 SOC?
12′ won’t look good on a 1024 x 768 Res. I hope they upgraded since then. 1280×800 will be ideal for the 12 incher.
A small correction . Is not Atom powered device . The processor is 1.6Ghz Pentium M .
Chippy, WTF is the deal with the CPU? You say Atom, a Commenter says 1.6GHZ Pentium M. Which is more powerful? And based on the specs in the article, is this at a glance better than the Archos 9? Any estimates of possible price?
