A few days late, but I’m ready to start my portion of the Mid Moves tour. My two devices have made their tortuous route from CES at Las Vegas, across the Atlantic, through the Fed Ex depot at Stanstead Airport, waited in a draft warehouse on the edge of Edinburgh, and into my hands.
I’ll properly introduce the devices (the Compal MID and BenQ S6) at the start of the first and third days, but before then I wanted to give you a little taste of what I’m planning.
As I said previously, given that the internet is becoming an almost required element of daily life. So I wanted to spend four days taking the MIDs, and you, around Scotland as I make very tenuous connections to the classical elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
I should warn you now that I’m not going to be doing anything stupidly dangerous, so fire is going to be a bit of a cop-out (The insurance for some of my original plans was more than Intel’s marketing budget for the year…), but it gives me a wide range of environments to see what the MIDs are capable of, where they work well, and where they might be lacking.
I’ll see you all tomorrow!
Onward—! So, what do you have planned?
I am excited to learn about your per charge battery usage per device. And if you are ever at the point were you have “dead battery syndrome” and so find that you are looking around for some place to charge a battery . How often does this happen with these devices?
And, in order to use the provided devices, now many extra batteries, and how much do all these extra batteries cost per unit? Are you including in your bag a whole bunch of power chargers complete with the bird nest of wires (or do you have a universal battery charger for all the units)?
Are you having to carry more stuff around than you want to? Would you like a device to carry it’s charge for at least 10 or 12 hours of use?
hmm, the classical greek elements.
have fun, i sure wish to visit scotland at some point, to walk the highlands if possible.
Knowing Ewan I’d be interested how many of the devices will survive this. ;)
Oh dear. No one told me Ewan was a device killer! Still, pushing the limits is what we’re all about right?
I did warn you Intel should have insured the devices… I don’t think I’m yet a specific inclusion on those policies!
Pixel QI, I’ll be looking at my kitbag and what I’m carrying on Day 2 (Monday), so I’ll talk about battery charge and power then.
