So the XP version does come with an SSD now? That it is reflected neither by the dynamism order page nor by jkk. You’re getting me confused ^^’

  4. Jim says:

I wonder if one will be available with 2.0 GHz CPU, Windows XP and 60 GB HDD. I’ve been looking for a 10 inch or less netbook with the Z550.

It would be nice for a no OS at all option.

Well that clinches it…no s10 for me. Too much money for too little. Using the Menlow platform is forgivable since it really is only 1 1/2 years old, but at the premium their asking I feel that at least 1.8ghz and 32gb SSD should be base standard for the $699. Not to mention shipping it with XP in 2010. You can’t even take advantage of the multi touch it ships with!

Here’s my new plan. Fulfill my preorder for the ipad as a couch surfer and scoop up one of the many deals to be had for a netbook under $300 at some point in the near future.

I can definitely appreciate the design and thought put into its form, but at the end of the day, you have a netbook with touch screen. This basically equates to paying $400 for the touch screen.

Crabolsky. Lenovo s10-3t… Similar specs way better pricing! I searched high and low for the best. After a few hands on I settled for this. If the Archos 9 was built with these specs I could see paying the asking price. Xp, really?

  8. frank says:

AFAIK companies pay $15 to $40 (US-Dollar) to Microsoft for an operating system. So the $100 difference between the XP and the Win7 model is way too much.

Making (more) money with early adopters I guess…

  9. bill says:

From what I read, PC makers pay $15 for Windows XP Home and $50 for Windows 7 Starter. I’m not sure how much they pay for Windows 7 Home Premium though.

  10. Tu says:

Those prices make the Vaio X netbook seem affordable. Is there going to be a Viliv tax now?

  11. Virtuous says:

I just ordered a used HP tc1100 for $319. Amazon is selling the HP TouchSmart TM2-1070US for $876. I don’t work for HP or Amazon.

  12. Michael says:

    Hey everyone,

I just noticed that mobilX updated prices and release information for the S10 in their web store. It now says “Availability from the end of April” with prices ranging from 696€ to 1.114€ including VAT within EU. Not exactly what I was hoping for but maybe some of you will be fine with that…
