Update: Viewsonic Viewpad 100 is now in the database
Update (It’s called the Viewpad 10 now)
Following up from my post on the Viewpad 100 the other day, here’s a hands-on video. You’ll see Android is fast alright but again, without the always-on hardware platform and no way to switch quickly between the two operating systems, you’ll probably find your self sticking to Windows 7. As a Win 7 TabletPC this is worth considering. 4.5hrs and good performance for 549 Euros isn’t bad.
wow, Android is LIGHTING fast on Atom. the moment you press on something it was already there, unlike ARM were you wait for transition effects.
this just goes to show that even the weakest X86 (X64) is still significantly more powerful than anything ARM can do. but unfortunately it comes with all the typical downsides, power consumption, design compromises, fans, etc. although for a W7 tablet i will admit it is surprisingly sleek. point is, ARM is still fast enough for most users so there is really no reason for this tablet to exist.
The point why it exists is that it is a w7 slate – not because it is a souped up android slate. The android is the icing on the cake and a little bit extra for differentiation. When the flood of slates arrives each will need something to make it stand out. Plus when someone can’t decide which way to go they can have both in one device here.
Some people complain w7 is too heavy – then here is your answer – the best of both worlds. Why a W7 slate? – because it does everything the others can’t do and does everything they can.

Chippy, could you confirm whether or not this machine has a fan in it??
Other than the discontinued T91MT and the uber-expensive Viliv S10, I cannot seem to find any other Windows based, touch enabled fanless computer. (My kingdom for silent Windows tablets…)
Thanks a lot.
