Secure Screens with Microsoft OneCare.

Watch out for this if you’re thinking of putting one-care on your ultra mobile PC (or any touchscreen device for that matter.)

Thoughtfix at Ultramobilegeek.com had some problems with his eo. Installing the Windows OneCare security packages disabled his touchscreen.

I have a feeling that Kevin Tofel of jkOnTheRun uses OneCare on his Q1. Maybe Thoughtfix should drop the guys a line. I’d certainly be interested because I’m due for a renewal on my Anti-Virus software and I won’t be buying Kaspersky again. So far I’ve heard nothing but good reports about OneCare and at $50 for 3 PC’s it’s also good value.

I’ve been using OneCare on my Q1 since late May of 06. No issues at all.

Same here; I’ve used OneCare since it was in beta and have had it running on the Samsung Q1 since late May without any issues. I do remember that manually running Windows Update / Microsoft Update caused me to lose the screen rotation functionality. A simple re-install of the Intel graphics driver resolved that. Shouldn’t be an issue with the eo as that unit doesn’t support screen rotation.
