ASUS R2H update from U.S.

Over at Propstm, Matt has just published an update on the status of the ASUS R2H Origami ultra mobile PC in the U.S.

$999 for a 60GB/768MB version sounds pretty good and it’s not the cut-down Dutch version without the BT or Web Cam.

Matt has some more info about availability on his blog and the timing coincides nicely with the launch in Germany on the 27th Sept.

DigiTimes says here http://www.digitimes.com/systems/a20060913PB201.html that it’s launched in taiwan on september 18. seems to have the same configuration you mentioned. when i was talking to the asus dude at cebit, he told me there was going to be two different versions, r2 and r2h… the r2 could be the cut-down version you were talking about.

another interesting thing about the digitimes article is, that they say, ecs is building a umpc for founder now. new model? dunno… aaaand that acer is having a “wait-and-see attitude” about umpcs…

    Hi. Thanks for the info.

The ECS story is probably correct. As Tablet Kiosk have a clsoe relationship with ECS we’ll probably see this one coming through them.
