It turns out that the naked investigation yesterday was worth it.
If you’ve got an i7210 or i7209 (unconfirmed on the i7209) you should have a Gigabit Ethernet port on the dock and not a 100mbps port as advertised. Adam, a Carrypad reader, has kindly confirmed my findings.
As the disk is only capable of about 12-15MBps (up to 120mbps) write speed, you’re not exactly going to flood the network but if you’ve got a GigE card on your server and a GigE switch, you should see some nice transfer rates across your local LAN.
If anyone else is able to confirm this, please let me know as I don’t have any GigE capability at my home office.
Don’t forget the that i7210 has dual, noise canceling mics and PCIe available on the docking port so if we all shout together, maybe we’ll see a mark II docking station with PCIe graphics card included.
