Not to be confused with the Pepperpad 3, this is a software upgrade for all devices using the Pepper platform software.

Confused?  You will be.

Pepper Computer develop a Linux based operating system called the Pepper  platform. This is used on the Pepperpad devices and on other devices using the Pepper Desktop.

In short. If you’ve got a Pepperpad or Pepperpad 3, you can now get a free software upgrade for your OS.

From the press release:

Release 3.0 Enhancements

  • Streamlined user interface with a sleek new look and even sharper graphics, expanded screen real estate, pop-up media display window and improved font rendering
  • Enhanced Web Browser with Adobe Flash Player Version 7, enhanced Popup Blocking, toolbar buttons for bookmarks, clippings and new full screen browsing mode
  • Two new games added just for fun – Quiximity and Solitaire
  • Photo Library now includes Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) access to photos on your Windows XP PC with Windows Media Connect installed
  • Wireless networking improvements include roaming support, virtual access point support and a more reliable startup

More interesting is that the new SDK is also being released meaning you can write applications for the Pepper platform.

Also in the press release is a reminder that the Pepperpad 3 is available to order from Amazon and that there are still original Pepperpad devices to be had in the stock clearout (Amazon, Target, ecost.) for $499.

If you’re in New York for the DigitLife trade show (starts tomorrow), you can see the new Pepperpad 3 at their stand.
