SmartCaddie was one of the first brand names in the ultra mobile PC market back in April and Paceblade Japan (PBJ) have just expanded the SmartCaddie range of UMPCs with a branded ECS H70 – The EX.
This model is in addition to the original SmartCaddie which was based on the Amtek T700. It looks like they are playing follow the leader with Tablet Kiosk!
This is interesting for Europe as Paceblade distribute the original SmartCaddie as the Easybook P7 in Germany. As far as I know, TabletKiosk have some territorial rights over this ECS-designed model so we may not see it appear in Europe. (Although I see that Expansys have brought in the same model into the UK under the Founder brand.)
If you see it on your travels and are wondering whether its worth it, have no fear. Its a fine ultra mobile PC and was the subject of a lengthy review here last week (as the Tablet Kiosk i7210.) Although the SmartCaddie EX has the Celeron processor, it shouldn’t make much difference to the average user. The only other difference I can see is the re-modeled touchstick.

Steve it is worth noting that the unit being offered by Expansys is running Windows XP, and not XP Tablet, so it will not have the same functionality as the this or the TabletKiosk unit.
