The fastest photo-blog in the world? Pt2.

Posted on 13 November 2006, Last updated on 13 November 2006 by

For fear of upsetting the timestamp on that last post (Part 1), here’s the result of the ‘fastest photo blog’ test on a separate entry. For those seeing this post without reading the previous posts, I advise to read the ultra mobile PC and DIgital Photography article and then the speed-post test to understand what I’m doing here.

I timed 50 seconds between pressing the shutter release on the ultra mobile PC and the publish process finishing on Livewriter. At 65 seconds I had confirmed that the post was on the journal. The timestamps on the image and the blog show the same minute!!!

Its possible that you could run a script on a USB web-cam that would do it more quickly but remember, I transferred a full 5Mp JPEG from a high-quality digital camera into an editor and then dragged it into a pre-prepared editing window where it was automatically re-sized. I then hit the publish button and it was published through the blogger API using SSH and FTP onto my remotely hosted blog, many, many kilometers away!

Here’s the sub-minute photo-blog preserved for kids all over the world to laugh at in the future.

Lets see if anyone can beat 50 seconds!!!

Regards

Steve / Chippy.
