Asus R2H Vista upgrades available.

I’ve been trying to work out the details of this ever since jkOnTheRun reported it yesterday. I think I’ve worked it out now.

If you bought your R2H after October 26th 2006, you can go to the Microsoft Vista and Office Upgrade Redemption site and register for the actual upgrade. It looks like you will get the Business edition for free. That sounds like great news although it would have been nice to have media center on such a consumer oriented UMPC. I would have thought that the Home Premium version would have been better.

So what if you bought your ultra mobile PC before October 26th?  Its not clear at the moment. There will be upgrade discounts but the prices are unknown. Release date in the UK is 2nd Feb 2007.

Have you tried it? After the web site came back up,I tried. I selected the option for the branded flyer, and Asus is not in the list of manufacturers. The site refers me back to Asus. I’ll contact them, but I really think the big A already did their part by providing me a flyer with the upgrade URL on it.

Strange. I hadn’t realised that the site had changed. I don’t have an R2H so it’s not an important topic for me!!
My recommendation is to contact your supplier and ASUS at the same time.

    Good luck.
