S-Xgen hands on and gallery – Engadget.

I’ve just been chatting with Matt Propst about this. We both agree that this is not a device we like.

The screen (I talked about it in Dec and then again a few days ago.) is not up to ultra mobile PC standards.

Although it might be 4 inches, touch sensitive and transflective there’s only 470 x 270 to play with. For $1400 I’d expect 640×480 at least because 470×270 isn’t going to be good enough for web browsing.

Still, its a nice carpet and you can read some comments and see the rest of the gallery at Engadget.

Steve.

I don’t quite see where this device will fit into the market. Yes, it does have dedicated media controls and it has cellular capabilities but the design is nothing more than interesting. Interesting, not useful. If it’s meant as a business type machine, I think anyone would be better off with an Oqo or even a Windows mobile Pocket PC edition smartphone and a bluetooth keyboard. It also looks very flimsy and needs a table of some sort for the keyboard to be useful.
