Looking quite sexy and with a brain to match, this is one pad we’ll be keeping a close eye on when we go to CES in Jan.
It’s a large, 10.1-inch 1024×600 device running Android on a Nvidia Tegra T20 platform and has some really noteworthy features.
- Pixel QI screen – Lower power. Better outdoor readability.
- 3G
- A-GPS, Compass, ambient light and water sensor.
- HDMI out
- 3MP AF camera.
You won’t see that lot appear for under $500 but even if it’s $600, it would make a very interesting home-to-office device. 10.1-inches is a little too large for our liking and the 1.7lb weight means it’s a two-handed device but this is definitely an interesting product. It reminds us of the ‘Haiku’ Microsoft ‘Origami’ concept of 2006.
The Tegra T20 is unknown to us at the moment so this could also be something that will be announced at CES. Information available at the moment leads us to believe this could be the next-generation Tegra platform. We’re wondering whether this could be a multi-core Cortex A5 implementation; a natural progression path from the multi-core ARM11 that Tegra currently uses.
Notion Ink Tegra Android smartpad uses Pixel Qi display – SlashGear.
Tegra based Laptops are announced for $150, this is the same without the keyboard and with a touchscreen instead. Why should it suddently cost $500. I think that a price below $300 and battery life of 20 hours is possible for this, unless they would be slow at ramping up the mass manufacturing of this specific tablet model. If they don’t, someone else will mass manufacture these soon.
I’ll go with Chippy. This thing has so much packed in and some new and unreleased technology that $500 would probably be on the low end.
Oh, and the only somewhat similar device available now to my knowledge, but with smaller and “normal” screen and without 3G, GPS and camera is Smart V7 that sells for about $300 and doesn’t have Tegra.
If Tegra T20 is really the next generation then it’s even less likely that this is going to be cheap and probably means (together with the screen) that we won’t see this on the market for quite some time.
This could be exactly the device I’m looking for. :-)
Slashgear says $300. But, even at $600, it’d still be very high on my list. I basically need to decide between this as the EnTourage eDGe. Probably the biggest decision point will be “when does it come to market”.
I posted on their blog asking that… hopefully I’ll hear soon.

As Sascha Pallenberg from netbooknews.com said there is no chance they will be successful at selling smarbook type of devices and tablets for over US$300, they are not Apple.
