Update. New Pics and a few lines of confirmation in a Dell blog

Spotted by Gizmodo at the ‘D’ conference, Mr Dell and his mini notebook.

Very little information was given by Michael Dell to Gizmodo when they, apparently, bumped into him at the All Things Digital conference. Apparently it’s for developing countries but it looks a bit too shiny for that.

The smart money is on an 8.9″ screen, Atom and the usual set of mininote specs. Modified image below shows the screen frame and web cam. Battery design looks like a 4-cell job. I guess we’ll hear more about this very soon. All images and story from Gizmodo

I reckon it is 14cm x 20cm. I based this off the size of the usb port. That means its about the same size as the Eee pc. cool

Why, Chippy! You really try to wring every bit (literally *bit*) of info you can out of something. I never would have thought of lightening that photo. Well done. 8.9″ screen it seems to be. With keys slighty smaller than the hp, but larger than the EeePC.

Too bad he couldn’t get us a peek at the bottom!

As long as it weighs less than a kilo and cost like it belongs to a developing nation, it will be a smash hit. :)

It has a Windows key on it, how can it not be Windows-based? :)

“Even the name “mini-Inspiron” comes from the file name of the Dell-supplied pics. However, if what we’ve already heard holds up, then we’re looking at 8.9-inches dolled up in a sub-$500 price tag with a choice of both Windows XP Home or Ubuntu Linux, 8-in-1 card reader, integrated webcam, direct media playback buttons, and a “host of wireless access options.” Expect more next week as the Computex show kicks off.”

sub 500.. plus coupons?! could be a good one to watch.. if anything asus just keeps digging a bigger hole for itself.

The Dell blog renderings have different key layouts then the version photographed by Gizmodo.

Engadget went for the ‘EeePC Killer’ headline. Haha

Tell dell people are waiting if you keep it under 3lbs under 10″ and under $500 with at least 10gb of storage. The rest is all a mystery to most people. When you think about size think about a womans handbag the size of a backpack and a mans brief case. If you have to have a separate carrier you defeat the porpuse.

Thanks for having such a great resource for backpacks. I’ve been searching all over for this. http://www.yourbackpacks.com/
