We’ve just had confirmation that Dell will be presenting the Dell Mini 5 at the Mobile World Congress ‘Pepcom’ event in Barcelona, next Monday.
We’ll be at MWC next week so we’re already registered for this event and will be aiming to get you some pics, video, hands-on thoughts and of course, we’ll be watching out for pricing and availability announcements.
Also related to the Pepcom event we’ve heard that HP will be showing some ‘touch’ and ‘mobile’ devices including a ‘new 3G addition.’ Intel will be showing their range of mobile devices (we expect the Intel-based LG GW990 to be there.) Qualcom will also be showing their Mirasol display technology so it’s going to be a busy evening!
Watch out for posts later on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
Based on my experience with the Archos 5 tablet w/Android, I’d be prepared to buy a phone in this form factor. I *love* the large hi-res screen. What I’m less enthusiastic about is the battery life (and that’s without a 3G radio!), and the poor memory management (which is to say I hope that the Dell 5 comes with 512MB instead of the Archos’ 256MB).
So, bring it on, Dell. Let’s see whatcha got.
I’m hoping Archos will announce a release date on the Archos Phone Tablet. The Archos 5 Internet Tablet is nice but it’s too big for my pocket. I really like the MKV and subtitle support.
Media support is one of the four critical elements of the Mini 5 along with Google apps support, battery life and cost.
So far, Archos leads any Android devices for media support.
Ya, but it’s still just as big as the Archos 5 Internet Tablet. The Archos Phone Tablet is supposed to have a 4.3 inch screen so hopefully it can fit it my pocket without too much annoyance. The Archos 5 was very annoying in my pocket especially when sitting down.
Please ask them how android will hold up for video playback? Currently android o.s has horrible support for different codec playback.
