Nokia MeeGo Jobs Hint at New Devices

Posted on 02 February 2011, Last updated on 02 February 2011 by

With 18 Meego Job positions posted in the last month it’s difficult to imagine Nokia making a move away from it and when they are also looking to build new types of Meego devices alongside the main business it hints at even longer term commitment.

The full story is over at Meegonews.

Chippy, Do you know if meego (mobile/tablet) edition is going to support a complete browser (chrome/firefox)?

  2. chippy says:

I think the core Meego release will use firefox mobile but that doesn’t stop anyone from releasing their own products with other browsers.

  3. Juan Chulilla says:

Is Firefox mobile comparable with Android version of Firefox mobile? If it is the case, then meego’s browser will be seriously javascript limited.

Why do you think that they don’t opt for a complete browser? Why they renounce for a “complete browsing experience” (your concept :) )?

  4. chippy says:

We can’t really judge firefox mobile at this state and with chrome likely to be an easy install, not a major worry. Chrome will ne used on the netbook builds.

Indeed, as you are the father of “complete browsing experience”, it would be nice if you review that concept now in 2011 with ipad and android tablets instead of UMPC

Good idea for an article. The full internet experience doesn’t exist on android tablets yet. I have a post about 2010 mobile web somewhere that covers it a bit.
