Joanna Stern, queen of netbook-land it seems, has published her full review of the MSI Wind and given it 4.5/5 on the morning that it officially launched. Good timing MSI!
The review covers pretty much every aspect of the device from design to battery life (Mmm, battery life. Why the cheap, low-cap batteries MSI? It could have been a lot better) and is the must-read if you’re considering the device, which, if the stats on UMPCPortal.com are anything to go by, is a huge number of people.

Does anyone know if the MSI wind will have swappable batteries?? I would rather get the linux version and be able to purchase the 6-cell later
the 3cell and 6cell are interchangeable, just make sure you buy one for the wind not one for some other laptop or form factor.
btw chippy the product links is invalid, you should use

or

btw release date – The Windows version of the Wind is priced at $499 MSRP, and will be available for purchase starting June 16th, 2008 at http://www.msimobile.com. The Linux based models of the Wind will be available at the same site later this summer for $399 MSRP.
The intresting thing is that on msi’s website it shows the nic as: Built-in Gigabit Ethernet LAN
But the manual says only fast ethernet 10/100. Which is correct? Can someone please confrim with MSI’s rep at computex!?
The launch was today but I saw some sites advertising a ship date of two weeks from now! I did a search on eBay and found someone selling it; they had 10 and they were all gone in hours!

is the link. I picked one up myself, let’s hope its not a scam, and I’ll let ya know how it goes!
i just bought an MSI Wind notebook. i was surprised about how lightweight this gadget is. the features are pretty basic for a netbook but it is sufficient for my application.
