We’ve seen the Dell Venue 8, the Toshiba Venue, heard about the Acer iconia A1 and had hands-on with the ASUS T100 but now it’s HP’s turn to launch a Windows 8.1 Tablet on Baytrail. The HP Omni 10 is a no-frills tablet, probably aimed at a professional market rather than a consumer one.
HP Omni 10 Specifications
- Intel Baytrail-T (Z3000 series) processor
- 64Gb SSD (always eMMC for Z3000-series products)
- 2GB RAM
- 10” 1900×1200 IPS screen
- Micro-HDMI
- Micro-USB (USB3.0 ?)
- Micro-SD card slot
- SIM card slot
- 8MP (rear) 2MP (front) cams
- Office 2013 license included

- Digitizer: No (unconfirmed.)

This should be a Connected Standby tablet meaning 300ms availability and always-on WiFi / Windows 8.1 apps.
Engadget mention Celeron or Pentium processor which would indicate Baytrail-M rather than Baytrail-T. The major difference being that the SSD could be a lot faster. We’ll try and get confirmation for you but for now we’re treating this as a Baytrail-T tablet.

Finally a tablet that takes advantage of the FHD res in baytrail…and yet no active digitiser. The wait for a proper successor to the active digitiser clovertrails (Samsung, asus, Lenovo) continues.
I’m also surprised there’s no digitizer here…unless everyone missed it at the preview event! Let’s consider, however, that Baytrail-T devices are low-cost, low-performance PCs and that Baytrail-M is the one that would support a more professional product. How likely would a 10″ or smaller device get a Bay Trail M chip?
A 10-inch with Baytrail-M is possible, and was promoted by Intel at IDF13 last week. I don’t see it going under 10-inches without compromises in battery capacity.
Already happening…

It even dual boots Android and Windows 8, but it’s a China based company that’s unlikely to sell to the rest of the world and the specs aren’t very high anyway…
10.1″ IPS with 1280×800, only up to 6 hours of battery life, only 2 to 4GB of RAM despite it being a Bay Trail M Celeron, etc.
Better models should come out later but it shows it’s possible…
I’m hoping to see a Haswell based Pentium or Celeron to make it into a 10″ screened notebook. Hopefully, it doesn’t have a touch screen but a matte one with thin bezels. I don’t mind it being thick in order to put in a decent battery.
No I didn’t see that, thanks for the link.
I just feel this time around the oems are targeting 8″ devices and low cost consumer tablets. Now maybe that’s where they need to be because if you want uptake that’s probably one of the best places to go especially when MS sort of has a good lead on the higher end aspects with the Surface Pro 2 and RT coming.
Still I just feel oems at this point are missing a great opportunity, baytrail offers so much promise I just think a Samsung 500T with baytrail and FHD screen would be a win and ideal for those that want a tablet PC with all day battery and don’t need to trade off higher performance for the shorter life and extra weight of a haswell tablet.
The 10.8″ Dell is one device that should have a digitizer and also other accessories. Their full Bay Trail lineup should be very interesting.
Besides a WACOM digitizer, or similar, they should probably also start adding a optical mouse like they used to for UMPCs, it’ll at least provide something to fall back on when on the go…
If I had to choose I’d take an optical trackpad over an active stylus. I always forget the stylus especially when there’s no silo for it. It’s makes standing use easier by having a firm 2 hand grip on the device.
Engadget agrees that this one will be Baytrail-M. They’re saying that the Pavilion 11×2 will be Celeron/Pentium.
