Launched at CEATEC Japan this week is the Sharp Mebius Pad, the first tablet we’ve seen using the Baytrail Z3770. It also offers a 300 PPI IGZO screen, a docking station, a digitizer layer and water resistance. Yes, it’s business-focused.

The Mebius Pad is a 10-inch tablet running Windows 8.1 or 8.1 Pro but the display is an impressive 2560×1600 and based on IGZO technology which has multiple benefits. There’s a docking station (HDMI + USB we believe) and LTE/3G options. Sharp didn’t mention  a digitizer in their press release but there’s a image of it over at Engadget. As for weight, size, price and other specifications, Sharp haven’t revealed anything yet.

It’s due in Jan 2014 and is likely to stay in the Japanese market so if you’re interested, keep an eye on the Sharp Mebius Pad product page

Engadget have some live images here which show the pen and a case.

Now this is the baytrail type successor i’ve been banging on about to replace the Samsung 500T or the Asus 810c range. Baytrail, FHD, digitiser. Shame its probably even further away for those not in the Japanese market.

Then again I recall having to import the Kohjinsha 7″ umpc running Vista when that first came out, panned out alright albeit expensive.
