Jenn from Pocketables.net has found an early review of the highly the anticipated Everun Note that is due to be in Chippy’s hands in the near future. If you can’t wait until then, test your luck with an online translator and see how much of the Korean review that you can understand. If you don’t want to wade through inaccurate computer generated translations, sit tight, Chippy will run the Everun Note through the paces as soon as he has its hands on it! In the mean time you can at least look at the pictures: (part 1, part 2).

$98 Linux Laptop from China – The HiVision MiniNote
400 Mhz CPU
128 MB RAM
1 GB NAND
Linux or WinCE
7″ 800 x 480 Screen
WiFi
10/100 Ethernet
The web video show display person at says that they have sold 10,000 already! So, in China, the netbook and portable internet device scene must be really really crazy.
Of tpic still – This is a new area to watch that I alluded to in my netbook sales estimates report the other day. ARM-based netbooks for the developing countries.
This looks a lot like the Elonex/Generic netbook being sold through a number of UK stores for around the £150 mark:

Seems odd that a device like this would be introduced to the UK market when it’s competition (ie. Entry-level eee models costing the same or fractionally more) are much better value.
Livce session is tentatively planned for 2100 CET (GMT+2) tommorrow (Thursday 4th)
I’ll be live as soon as I get the device though and will do the unboxing video live. Keep watching for announcements.
chippy, do you know which version will you receive?
The manual states that the disk can be a 12GB SSD or a 30/60/80GB HDD.
And what about the OS? Resellers speaks about XP, but Vista seems to be supported, and a video showned Linux…
I have no idea which one. I hope its SSD + XP
JP – where did you see that vista was supported?
Gosh, I searched the net to find where I read that Vista was supported, but found nothing.
Now you make me wonder if I just dreamed of it :-O
Stay tuned to the reviews, Vista support will certainly be investigated.
All my apologies if I raised false hopes… But honestly I don’t see why this device couldn’t run Vista, with a dual core Turion and a discrete ATI video card. Drivers maybe? …
I’ll post later if I got my hand back on it.
