Continuing my Ultrabook game-testing, I wanted to highlight a game that’s free-to-play and worth a shot if you’re a fan of strategy-based games rather than twitch-based first-person shooters. The game in question is League of Legends [2009] which is a standalone game based on the immensely popular Defense of the Ancients mod which ran within Warcraft III [2002] and began its rise to fame in 2003. This is a multiplayer action-RPG which is highly strategic and can take some time to master. In my testing on the UX31 with Core i5 CPU, HD 3000 graphics, and 4GB of RAM, League of Legends runs flawlessly.
As I’ve shown previously, there are plenty of worthy games out there that might not represent be the pinnacle of graphic fidelity, but are still very entertaining and run great on an Ultrabook’s HD 3000 integrated graphics. League of Legends is graphically quite a bit more intense than my prior suggestions but still runs flawlessly on an Ultrabook.
With the settings maxed-out and resolution set to the native 1600×900 of the Asus UX31, League of Legends runs admirably and is perfectly playable. Should you want a slightly smoother experience, dial the settings down from ‘Very High’ to ‘High’ and you’ll get an extra dose of fluidity — either way, the game is playable and looks great.
Intel was showing off League of Legends running on Ultrabooks at the annual Game Developers Conference back in March:
League of Legends is not an easy game to get into if you haven’t previously played Defense of the Ancients. Although it may take some work to acquaint yourself with the game, League of Legends may prove to have a surprising amount of replayability and keep you entertained for some time to come. If you’re going to give it a shot, be sure to play through the tutorials before jumping into the multiplayer arena. Also be warned that there is a decent amount of downloading, installing, and patching to be done before you can get the game running for the first time.
To get started with League of Legends, all you need to do is make a free account and download the game. Do that by visiting the official site here.

Howdy would you mind letting me know which hosting company you’re utilizing? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 different internet browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then most.
Can you recommend a good hosting provider at a honest price?
Many thanks, I appreciate it!

Hey! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of hard
work due to no back up. Do you have any solutions to stop hackers?
