We here at origamiportal.com have taken the promotional video originally found on Digital Kitchen’s site, broken it down scene-by-scene, and provided analysis about what is being shown in each key scene. We hope this will provide some insight into the many uses Microsoft has planned for this device.

Onto the scenes:

Scene 1:

This scene presents our first glimpse of the Origami. This model has a greenish/white color scheme and it appears the user has pulled up Hotmail in the web browser and is checking her email. The screen dimensions are perfectlly sized for this type of task.

Scene 2:

This scene continues on with the first user who is working in a mobile recording studio. As she connects the different audio equipment to her PC and begins mixing music, the Origami seems to be interfaced with the desktop in some way.

Scene 3:

This scene continues on with the first user, and she has now moved outside with her Origami and appears to be emailing the audio mix she just made to another person. She uses the tablet to request that this person check out her audio mix. This is the first example of the tablet functionality of the Origami as she is able to pull out the stylus and write a note to be sent to another user.

Scene 4:

This scene continues on with the first user, and this time she has passed the Origami to her friend. Her friend then takes the stylus, and draws up a quick sketch of a face.

We move on to the second user in this scene. A man is shown driving an SUV in some scenic off-road location, and he has the Origami acting as a GPS unit in the seat next to him. This seems like another ideal use for this unit as the screen size is perfect for this type of display and the mobility of the unit makes it easy to transfer in and out of the car.

Scene 6:

This scene continues on with the second user, and after getting out of his truck he appears to enter some type of MP3 playlist interface and selects a song to listen to. Later on, he plugs in some ear-buds to listen to the track he has selected.

Scene 7:

This scene continues on with the second user, and displays a photo-viewing/manipulation utility on the Origami. A few seconds earlier, the user set up a DSLR camera and took the photo you see displayed in the Origami.

We are greeted by the third user in this shot. She is at her home and working on some T-Shirt designs at her desktop. Sitting beside her desktop is the Origami, which is connected to a docking station. As she sits there, the Origami cycles through some photos, in a screensaver fashion.

Scene 10:

This scene continues on with the third user. She has moved outside her house and has taken the Origami with her. As she sits down, she appears to use the Origami to interact with her desktop machine inside and manipulate what is on the desktop screen. More detail is shown in the next screencap.

Arriving at the fourth user, he is sitting in some type of terminal hunched over his Origami and rapidly pressing the buttons. You can also see the ear-buds coming out of the Origami. We will later see that he is playing the first-person shooter game Halo.

Scene 15:

This scene continues with the fourth user, and gives us a better view of Halo running on the Origami. The size of the display makes this a perfect unit for playing these style of games on the go. We also get a better view of the leather carrying-case this user has their Origami enclosed in, and we will see better shots in the next scenes.

Scene 16:

This scene continues with the fourth user, and he has stopped his game-playing after receiving an instant message. The instant messanger screen pops-up and the user uses the attached keyboard to type a message back to his buddy.

Moving on to our fifth, and final user, we watch him as he cruises the street on his motorcycle and pulls over to pull the Origami out of his backpack. What pops-up is a picture of a map and route to the destination. The note appears hand-drawn and possibly the stylus was used to draw the route.

Scene 21:

This scene continues with the fifth user and he has spotted something interesting that he is taking a picture of with his cell-phone. We will see later that he uses the Origami to manipulate this image and send it to a friend.

Scene 22:
