Thanks to Mobilx.eu I’ve had the Aigo MID for a few weeks now. I put a fairly lengthy post up a few weeks ago explaining where this device fits in but now it’s time to give you an overview of it in action.
Here’s the video, made with very little preparation so you get to see a few problems with the device too.
Also available in higher quality WMV and H.264.
As I said in my hands-on, this isn’t a device for most consumers yet. It’s an early-adopters device built with good hardware and relatively open software. Out-of-the-box the applications are relatively thin and light but it’s main task, being a mobile internet device, is performed extremely well as you can see in the video. If high-end browsing in a pocketable form factor with media, music and communications, good Wifi and BT and a really lovely screen fits your bill, this could be one for you.
More information and links including specifications and gallery, available through the Aigo MID info-page.
The more I see of this device the more I like it. I’m in two minds, do I follow the original plan and go for an R50a as a direct replacement for my Q1. Or do I go with the 1-2 punch from a Netbook (HP mini-note is the current favorite) and the Aigo Mid? Also and perhaps most importantly, I become a free agent phone wise in 2009 – so do do I finally leave the s60 fold to go android, iphone or blackberry?
Wow. Almost the same corrupted mind as myself.
I’ve gone for the old one-two. Netbook – MID. I’m considering my phone options for next year. Android OS (probably not on that HTC hardware due it being ugly in my eyes) is on the cards.
Steve.
