Calling it out as a challenger to the Apple MacBook Air, APC Mag seems very happy with the Asus UX21 Ultrabook they’ve recently had hands-on time with.

The article doesn’t go into any specifics about the testing done but does quote Q3 availability (Australia) and estimates a price competitive with the MacBook Air. Looks like we will have to wait a while to get specifics on the all-important battery life.

these devices are alright, I’m still more interested in the slider design to use Windows 8 in both form factors. besides, I wouldnt buy anything right now until I knew W8 spec requirements are released.
MBA & ultrabooks are not that thin, even at 17mm & 2lbs+, tablets still destroy them even upcoming “productive” W8-ARM tablets. ultrabooks are pretty but you will still get less storage for more money with a tradeoff primarily in weight which doesnt matter a whole bunch for non-vertical devices.
it’s interesting, but overblown, shallow & less useful much like Apples entire empire.
