Although I missed the first showing of the Lenovo Yoga Ultrabook at CES today I bumped into it at a press event this evening. It’s an efficient implementation of an Ultrabook that converts into a tablet and with a 1600×900 IPS screen, it looked great. Pricing could be on the high-side of course but if Lenovo do managed to bring this to market with Windows 8 and Ivy Bridge in Q3/Q4 2012 it will be one amazingly unique Ultrabook. Lenovo think they can reach 7 hours of true battery life.
Images and video below.
As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of 13” tablets that weigh 3lb or more but at least this design is simple and unlike slider devices, keeps the screen protected when not in use. Here are the pics, scroll down for the hands-on video.
Awesome, this is something I’d like to have despite the weight…
yeah, interesting thing, vety unconventional.
To chippy: could you make some clear large photos of Vaio ultrabook prototype there, from all 4 sides (it is somewhere under glass cube in the show hall)? Thanks.
Also if there is any Dell ultrabook :d
Yeah.

It is still unnounced, strangely.
It’s 3.1 lbs so that’s not much over 3.
Screen resolution & battery life looks really good.
How does Ivy Bridge perf compare to the core I5?
Are the keyboard and trackpad disabled when in tablet mode? I can see myself hitting the keys and trackpad constantly while in tablet mode.
I assume you can lock keyboard but I’d think that’s probably manual except for tablet mode.
There’s extra space around the keys so it’s less likely you touch the keys in tablet mode at least.
Convertible is more versatile but that said I love Yoga’s IPS 400nits screen. Price would range from $1000-$1200 which I think is reasonable especially with SSD.
I think that there is a market for convertible ultrabooks. This one is too heavy and too large for what I need. Do hope they’ll have sth like this with 9′ and 2lbs.
the Lenovo Yoga is the best laptop/tablet in the market
this xps is a real piece of garbage, a low reolution, low contrast, low viewing angle, all the opposite of the macbook air
if you compare the macbook air screen vs the new ipad, well the former is a shit screen
new ipad has a nice IPS, touchscreen and ultra high resolution, and that only cost apple 70$
Dell screws you? all with that cheap screen
TOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD
I love this
What is the best yoga teacher training video?
I don’t mind paying small fee.
