Thanks to Nokia UK I’ll be kicking off the re-launch of HiBlue with a long-term test of the Nokia 808 PureView, a device that has many connected camera fans excited.
I took in the Nokia N8 for testing nearly two years ago and before that I was a Nokia N82 owner for two years. I’ve had a short term ownership of the Omnia Pro and Experia X10 during the last two years too. All excellent cameraphones. I’m excited to be testing the PureView.
Reviews are out there already (Allaboutsymbian has the best – Steve Litchfield is just as much a cameraphone fan as I am) so I intend to take a longer-term view on the device and its capabilities.
Questions many of us will be asking. . .
Is Symbian good enough?
Is the 808 PureView worth the money?
Is it worth upgrading from a Nokia N8?
How close does the PureView come to replacing a compact camera?
I’ll be looking closely at light sensitivity, stabilization, speed and zoom features. Ill also be checking out its suitability for online fans. Photo sharing and social.networking was always a weak point on the N8 so I hope to see more built-in sharing features. As a professional blogger i’ll also be testing out its suitability for YouTube work. With 1080p, lossless and silent zoom, stabilization, on-device editing and connectivity, there are some good possibilities. One year ago I covered IFA with an N8 and a tablet. It was hard work and relatively low-quality. Perhaps the 808 could improve on it.
