So… the VAIO P [Portal page]. Sony says it is Pocketable right? A flash animation which you can see here shows a girl walking along, shaking her thang’ (if you will), with the VAIO P in her back jeans pocket. And guess what? It keeps sliding out, and she has to push it back in to place. I don’t quite understand how this demonstrates pocketability. It is strange especially because Sony’s VAIO UX series was probably more pocketable than the brand new VAIO P.
Flash ad on Sony.vaio.jp makes me question Sony’s definition of pocketable

this device is roughly the same dimensions as the original 7″ UMPC’s
which were NOT realistically pocketable
Yeah even the UX 390 can’t be considered such. Though itd be nice to. :/
It would be fine to let it be longer around 7.5″ and stick out of a back pocket a bit but for it to be pocketable it must be no larger than 4″ in depth.
What is missing is a jacket size type of UMPC that has a full touch type keyboard, runs full Windows, and is more like the size of the Psion 5mx or HP Jornada 720 were, about 7″ x 4″ x 1″ or less. That would be ideal as it would be pocketable but not TOO small to be unfunctional. To many of the pocket size UMPC’s, and mids are useless to do any real computer work as they are too short to provide a real keyboard and instead just have a lame thumb keyboard.
That girl must be an amazon woman as the specs on the web site say,
“10.99”(W) x 0.93″(H) x 7.87″(D)”
7.87 inches in depth! that is way too wide as most pockets can only handle about 4″! Her hand must be huge if she can grab a computer almost 8″ wide to make it appear much narrower!
that’s a joke
