My favorite deal-per-day site, Woot.com is selling one of the original netbooks. Well, actually it is its sister site, sellout.woot.com, but the same concept applies.
Today only you’ll be able to buy a refurbished Eee 2G surf which features a 7″ 800×480 screen, 2GB of SSD space, 512MB of RAM, and an 800MHz Celeron processor. You can also choose the color you want, from black, blue, green, pink, or white. Buy soon if you are interested, once it sells out it is gone for good.
Asus Eee 2G Surf on woot today for $159 http://tinyurl.com/bdn6ta
As these are REFURBISHED and not new (not that I think it’s any big deal but price isn’t “great” anymore then..) I guess the $159 isn’t that fantastic for a 2G Surf 701, as we’ve seen 900A for $199.99 at your local Best Buy.
Dell MIni at $199.99 now

$159 is of course a great price but when you know what the others are going for, it doesn’t sounds that good.
This is the problem the laptop market will have when 12″ ‘netbooks’ hit. Customer pricing perception changes and boom! Big problem.

Yeah, even though it may be (and was) a great price for what the 700 (2G Surf) can do in a rather specific usage scenario, the price doesn’t compare well. All the 9″ Atom models, even the low-end models, are all still simply excellent, but when the new stuff comes, the “small and old” models risk gathering dust even though they are the better ones.
Low price, Yes
Great price, NO!
This isn’t really a good deal as such.
It has too many cons to be a good deal, it’s not a “great price” just because it’s low. If you’re not getting much for your money. Is a bad dinner a “great price” just because it was cheap? :)
Vielen Dank für den netten Artikel. Ich habe auch nen Blog zum Thema mobil surfen
