The Toshiba Z10T has officially launched in Germany. This pro-level detachable is due in Q2 with what we believe is one of the new low-power Ivy Bridge CPUs. It will go head-to-head with the Fujitsu Q702, the Lenovo Helix, Samsung ATIV 700T and, if it ever reaches the market in quantity, the ASUS Transformer Book.

The new low-power Intel CPUs are clock-limited and turbo-limited to offer lower TDPs that would fit this sort of product so it’s highly likely we’ll see one of them in the Toshiba Z10T. CPU parts to look out for are:
Core i3-3229Y, Core i5-3439Y (includes VPro) Core i5-3339Y, Core i7-3689Y (with VPro)
No weight figures have been given so don’t expect anything ground-breaking. 1.5-1.7KG would be the expected range. No price has been given either so, the same applies. This is targeted at business and the educational market.

Notice how quite a few manufacturers are using the term Ultrabook Detachable now?
Aw man, when I saw the 10 in Z10t, I thought it was a 10 incher. Too bad it’s not. For tablet use, a 10″ screen with the average bezel size these days are the absolute max size I’d go. Even then, it’s pretty cumbersome no matter how light the tablet is. Any larger, I’d rather go with a regular clamshell notebook and maybe get a touchscreen option if it was a $50 upgrade.
