Acer announced a ‘new’ tablet for the USA today. The Acer Aspire P3 is, as far as we can tell, the W700 with the new keyboard case seen at MWC this year.
The Acer Aspire P3 appears to have been on the market as the W700P in Europe and the W7 in the USA A Core i5-3337U with 4GB and 128GB SSD running Windows 8 Pro through a Full HD display is around 1000 Euro with the keyboard case in Europe. The P3 will offer a lower specifications set and as a result will be cheaper. We tested the new keyboard case back at MWC and you can see the video below.
What’s likely to have happened here is that Acer have simply done a re-branding exercise to bring the W7 down into a cheaper price bracket. The Acer Aspire P3 is said to be coming with storage right down to 60GB so expect Windows 8 rather than Pro for an entry level price of $800.
Engadget says that the screen isn’t a Full HD panel. Details haven’t been confirmed on the resolution yet.
Battery life is quoted as ‘up to 6hrs’ which is less than the W700.Updare: 40Wh battery is much less than that found in the W700 which brings up the possibility that the P3 is running a low power Y-version of the Core processors.
The Acer Aspire P3 looks like a W700 with some reduced specifications. At $800 it seems expensive for the specification set but street prices could drop quickly making it an interesting option for the more mobile PC user.

Another one missing some sort of mouse pointer. An active stylus isn’t enough.
