Any version 2 of the Vaio Duo 11? For example, smaller bezels, trackpoint instead of an optical one and possible a seemingly longer lasting sliding mechanism?

  2. Steve Chippy Paine says:

I’m assuming the Duo 11 will get a Hawell refresh if a new design has not been announced. We’re waiting for offical word…

I’d like to see a refreshed Duo 11 as well. This Duo 13 is only 0.1lbs more than the current Duo 11. So it I think Sony would need to get the Duo 11 weight down to 2.4 lbs (~1.1kg) to make it worth it in my opinion.

  4. Victor says:

And is there any magnetic thingy for the digitizer, since it doesn’t have a slot for it?

I thought Sony Vaio Duo Pro 11 was the one…

  6. me says:

That’s not a slider so it’s not an updated version. It’s just different notebook that also has an 11.6″ screen. It’s called Vaio Pro 11 (no Duo).

  7. JohnCz says:

10 hour battery life, wow. The picture you include gives the impression that hinge mechanism may allow for some display position flexibility. I doubt it but it would be cool if it flipped back.

  8. James says:

The Duo 13 was listed on the retail site NCIX since Monday, no picture or specs except for “Sony VAIO Duo 13 i5 4200U 8GB 128GB SSD 13.3in Full HD Touchscreen Windows 8 Ultrabook Black/White” the and
    “Sony VAIO Duo 13 i7 4700MQ 8GB 128GB SSD 13.3in Full HD Touchscreen NFC Windows 8 Ultrabook”

The prices are 1500 and 1700 respectively. No stock

  9. DavidC1 says:

The specs for the higher end is actually 4500U. MQ is the 47W quad core.

Ok, so that’s not the slider, but a high end conventional one.

  11. Touko says:

    Annoying design mistake:

Given that the wrist rest is too short for anyone but a 2 year old, they should at least have given it a softly rounded edge!

Now you’ll end up having a sharp corner digging into your palms if you use the keyboard for any length of time.

  12. Alan says:

If you’re worried about wrist injury then you’re not supposed to be resting your wrists on the palm rest while typing at all. Doing so can cause permanent hand/wrist injuries over time.

  13. Touko says:

I’m not worried about that type of wrist injury.

I just don’t like sharp edges digging into my palms.

Now, if the sharp edges cause you to hold your hands/wrists in a cramped way, then certainly, it’ll broaden the risk of wrist/carpal tunnel injury to a much larger group of people.
