HP’s 2-in-1 range is expanding with the HP Pro x2 410 which appears to be a variant of the HP Pavilion X2.

Lenovo Miix 2 11 is a Core-Based Dockable Tablet. Specs, Video

Miix 2 11_03

Lenovo have just launched a Miix 2 11 based on 4th-Gen Core with up to 256GB of SSD storage and optional 3G.

Like the Lenovo Miix 2 10 it’s a 3-mode detachable and it’s obviously going to compete in the Surface Pro 2 space although you’ll have to wait for April. The starting price of $699 looks good although you should probably expect a Y-series Core i3 for that price, like the $699 Yoga 11S.

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabooks – Notes, Images, Video Overview (2012)

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook (6)
Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook (8)

With such a short amount of time it’s really impossible to say anything definitive about the new Samsung Series 5 Ultrabooks but I’ve had a chance to have some uninterrupted time with the two devices at the Samsung Media Lounge here at CES and the devices do seem well-rounded. I’m especially impressed with the keyboard, ports and Wi-Di . If you’re thinking about the Acer S3, I would advise to wait for the NP530.

More images and two overview videos below.

As you can see on the underside, there’s HDD and Memory access making it easier to upgrade to an SSD if required.

Lenovo Yoga–Convertible Ultrabook Hands-On

Lenovo Yoga (5)

Although I missed the first showing of the Lenovo Yoga Ultrabook at CES today I bumped into it at a press event this evening. It’s an efficient implementation of an Ultrabook that converts into a tablet and with a 1600×900 IPS screen, it looked great. Pricing could be on the high-side of course but if Lenovo do managed to bring this to market with Windows 8 and Ivy Bridge in Q3/Q4 2012 it will be one amazingly unique Ultrabook. Lenovo think they can reach 7 hours of true battery life.

Lenovo U310, U410 Ultrabooks Pics, Video

Lenovo U310 U410 (3)

At the CES Unveiled event in Las Vegas this evening, Lenovo was showing off two new Ultrabook, official Ultrabook, notebooks. The U310 and U410 are said to more mainstream 13” and 14” Ultrabooks which I take to mean ‘cheaper with more storage.’ I hope this doesn’t mean the start of the end of SSD-based Ultrabooks!

This is the new Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook. Looking a lot nicer than the original S3 in my opinion. There’s a good range of ports including, for the first time on an Ultrabook, Thunderbolt. All the ports are hidden behind an electrically driven raised panel.
