Not Joanna Stern!
Joanna Stern, queen of netbook-land it seems, has published her full review of the MSI Wind and given it 4.5/5 on the morning that it officially launched. Good timing MSI!
The review covers pretty much every aspect of the device from design to battery life (Mmm, battery life. Why the cheap, low-cap batteries MSI? It could have been a lot better) and is the must-read if you’re considering the device, which, if the stats on UMPCPortal.com are anything to go by, is a huge number of people.

This is an image of an AMD-based device that has been shown at Computex. Its small, really small. One of the smallest I’ve seen with a full keyboard. It’s got a 7″ touchscreen and its 1024×600. Its starting to look nice. AMD’s officials are saying its running Turion and that it’s 1.5 times the processing power of an Atom and will return 2.5hrs video-playback runtime. Its looking very interesting indeed. [Continued…]

10.2 is just out of the UMPCPortal coverage range (yes, the ASUS 1000 won’t get coverage here either) but this is worth noting due to it being the first device we’ve seen that will be using the VIA Nano processor.
Aving snapped the pic but there’s no hands-on or word on price or availability. I’m a little confused as to why they have the old VX700 chipset in there though. A man’s Nano-based PC requires VX800 and no less!!
Images of the device, which doesn’t look bad at all, over at Aving. Take it from us, the translation is hardly worth reading!

The Clevo TN70M that we reported on back at CeBIT has now turned into the TN71M but the key feature remains the same. Battery life. More after the image…

Jkk of Jkkmobile has unearthed battery figures for the new Atom based Eee 901. Conflicting with the rumored 7 hours of battery life, the official figures are 4.2-6 hours for the 6 cell 6600 mAh (48wh) battery. Jkk also reports that the 901’s batteries will not be compatible with previous Eee models. Weight of the unit will also increase over the older Eee 900; head over to Jkkmobile for additional pictures and weight info .

A new Intel Atom based “CW0A1″ netbook is said to be making an appearance at Computex this year. Its external design appears to be roughly based around the Easynote reference design that was seen quite a while ago. The 8.9” screen, 1024×600 res, and optional WiMax module position this netbook to be a competitor to the new Atom based Eee 901 that has already been spotted at Computex. Don’t expect to see the CW0A1 selling under FIC’s branding, as the company manufactures parts and full computers often for sale to other OEMs.

The 912 surfaced a few days ago on the Gigabyte website without an image but the official image is up now. [Gigabyte product page]
With an 8.9" screen at 1280×768 in a case that’s not a few mm bigger than the Eee PC 900, it looks like it could be a real VyeS37 killer. Assuming the device is based on Diamondville, it will have similar performance and with its 32wh battery its likely to have a much better battery life than the Vye which was never the efficient device that it could have been. 3-4 hours is a possibility on the standard battery with this.
According to Crave, Taiwan [Translation] some pricing info has been given out too. RR Pricing is said to be a very competitive 20,000 Taiwanese Dollars which is about 660 US. Dollars. They also reveal that the device has a web-cam, 2.5" SATA drive and an ExpressCard slot. No details on whether it’s a hard or soft touchscreen yet.
I’ve updated the M912 details in the database.
Thanks Bamei
