MeetMobility Live Podcast with Runcore at CES 2010. Netbook Tech Zone, 8th Jan, 2pm.

CES Logo JKK, Sascha and I are extremely proud to announce that we’ll be doing our first ever live-audience MeetMobility podcast recording (and hopefully live broadcast) at CES 2010 on Friday Jan 8th at 2pm

Thanks to Runcore, creators of excellent SSD solutions (I think we all have at least one Runcoreenabled device now) we’ve got a place, a time and an internet connection. With a sack full of news to talk about I doubt we’ll have any problems at all filling a podcast and if we meet any other bloggers on the way, we’ll drag them in too.

It should be fun and we’d love you to join us if you’re at CES. Shout abuse, feed us with cocktails, whatever you fancy!

Here’s the announcement from Runcore:

Join us on Friday the 8th a 2pm where www.Meetmobility.com consisting of www.JKKmobile.com, www.UMPCportal.com and www.Netbooknews.com will hold a round table event discussing the pros and cons of all the new products they are covering at CES. Everyone should come and enjoy the show, as we all know when these guys get together there is sure to be some educated, excited, and enlightening debate that sheds light on products that will surely turn your geek on. The event will be uploaded to YouTube for everyone that cannot attend CES. We also hope to stream it live on Ustream. Keep any eye on www.Meetmobility.com for further up to date information on this event.

Location: Booth #35516 from the NetBook Tech Zone, LVCC South Hall 4

If we can set it up, the live stream (and chat) will be on the usual /live pages on our respective websites.

Meet:Mobility Meet:Mobility Podcast 34. IDF, Maemo and the Attack of the Tablets

podcaster_full-273x300Over at Meet:Mobility, Sascha, JKK and I have just posted podcast 34.  A half-hour of netbook, MID, smartphone and ultra mobile PC discussion with a focus on IDF, the N900 and the rush of tablet-style devices hitting the market at the moment. We hope you enjoy it.

One point I wanted to highlight from the podcast is where Sascha reminds us that although there’s a tablet buzz going on right now, not many of the devices have hit the market yet and there’s no proof that any of them are or will be successful. Worth thinking about.

Note that Sascha will be moderating the Netbook World Expo in Paris on December 8th. I’ll be at the Mobile Dev Camp in Munich on October 31st.

Finally, we’re still looking for a sponsor for the Meet:Mobility podcasts so that we can make it a regular bi-weekly event. If you’re interested, contact us for details.

Meet:Mobility Podcast – The Apple Tablet

appletabletKicking me back into life after 3 weeks away from my desk is this special Meet:Mobility podcast about the (possible) Apple Tablet.

JKKMobile, Sascha, Warner, Xavier, Ben and Brad provided some really interesting thoughts and commentary on what the device might be like and where it will be targeted. At the end of the podcast I ask them all if they would buy one based on the current rumors and there’s a very very interesting response that tells me that the Apple Tablet is a hugely risky product!

MeetMobility Podcast 29 – Computex 2009

Podcast 29 is now available.

58 minutes of detailed discussion about Computex 2009. Many people called it ARM’s Computex but was it all just PR? Sasha, JKK and I talk about that, how Intel and Moorestown will compete in the same space and cover the main ultra mobile PC and netbook news.

P.S. Sorry about my voice quality on this podcast. No amount of electronic wizardy or 20th century drugs could fix it!

@Chippy @JKKMobile @Sascha_P Podcast and Live Session Today.

In about an hour I’ll be getting together online with with Sascha and JKK for the Computex round-up podcast. If I’m able to set it up, i’ll broadcast it on the /live channel but if not, don’t worry because the podcast will go up almost shortly afterwards. Update. We didnt get the podcast done due to network issues out in Taiwan. We’ve rescheduled for tomorrow.

I will be on the live channel afterwards though and JKK will join me this evening for a more formal session where we’ll both be talking about the new Viliv X70 EX Premium AIR and Viliv S5 Premium Air. That’s planned for 2100 CEST but it will also be recorded.

My full X70 EX Premium Air review is ready (I’m waiting for the battery life test to finish but its clearly the best 7 inch tablet ultra mobile PC ever) and that will probably be posted this afternoon so keep an eye out for it.

We look forward to seeing you on UMPCPortal.com/live later.

MeetMobility Podcast 28. Computex 2009 Warm-Up

podcaster_full

JKK, ‘Sash’ and I recorded Meet Mobility Podcast 28 this afternoon. We spent an enjoyable 50+ minutes talking about Computex and what we think might be on the cards.

Check out the show notes and listen in at MeetMobility.

We’re all going to be there next week which makes the event twice as exciting! I’ll be at Computex as a guest of Intel so you’ll find breaking Intel-focused coverage over at MIDMoves. I’ll be covering the Intel keynotes where we’re expecting news on Moblin, Moorestown and the new netbook platform, PineView. There’s some mumblings about MIDs too. I’ll also be posting as normal in UMPCPortal so keep both sites in your bookmarks and check back regularly.
