Good morning everyone. Hope you enjoyed yesterdays live blog (still updating) on the day that Windows 8 was officially launched. First possible availability is today for all Windows 8 devices so watch out for the first discounts! You’ll see some disappointing ‘out of stock’ messages at Amazon.com though.
Update: Ultrabook convertible overview here.
Let’s kick off today’s Ultrabook coverage by looking at a new Ultrabook video campaign from Intel. 7 videos have just gone live and some focus purely on the convertible side (!) of Ultrabooks. Ultrabook first though in the “Ultrabook convertible” ads.

…and it’s not cheap!
Update: It’s not light either. See product page for size and weight info.
As we watched this ASUS Transformer Book video from Liliputing yesterday, we heard some talk about a price and immediately started to write an article while simultaneously contacting Brad Linder at Liliputing for confirmation. He couldn’t give it. Apparently the voice was from another conversation and as there were other devices on the table he couldn’t confirm. We have new information now though.

Asus is launching new Zenbooks apparently in the hopes of appealing to everyone. What once consisted of only Ultrabooks now features six devices, one of which is not an Ultrabook. Most recently Asus has announced the UX42 and UX52. The HP Envy Touchsmart 4 is already available to order with Core i3 or i5 and RAM up to 8GB, Hybrid HDD up to 500GB. The SpectreXT, (first announced at end of August) should be available to order soon and could be something of a challenger for that entry-level MacBook Pro Retina. A 15.6” fullHD screen, thunderbolt, Beats audio SSD and RAM options and a weight of 4.7 pounds are attractive features. We’re looking out for the fine specs – especially that battery which we hope HP haven’t cut corners on.

Asus U500 details thus far revealed have been added to our database. There seems to be some confusion about whether or not the U500 is an Ultrabook. If the specs we’re seeing are accurate — a quad-core i7 ‘QM’ processor — it is definitely not an Ultrabook. However there seems to be quite a bit of confusion regarding that fact.

Asus has prepared a full device assault to coincide with the launch of Windows 8. Tomorrow at 2PM EST the company will be unveiling their Windows 8 lineup at their Windows 8 touch teaser site. Though Asus is trying to tease the identity of the lineup (see icons below with no names) a quick look into the website source reveals the names of these devices: TaiChi, Transformer Book, Zenbook Touch, Vivo Book, and Vivo Tab (not that we couldn’t have guessed before!) [there’s also an AIO touchscreen desktop but that doesn’t really concern us!].
