8-inch Tablets

All 8-inch Windows tablet PCs and ultra-mobile PCs we have in our database are listed below.

8-inch tablets are rare items now but there are some new options available as imports, some low-cost 7-8 inch Windows tablets and some second-hand Windows tablets that are still usable for basic tasks.

Intel stopped development of their ultra-mobile processor range in 2016 and as a results there`s nothing offered in Intel`s CPU range that could work in such a small form factor.

In late 2017 Microsoft and Qualcomm announced a program to support Windows on ARM-based Windows 10 devices on processing platforms made by Qualcomm. Watch the space below for new product offerings on ARM-based platforms from late 2018.

Mobile PCs from the Database:
GPD Pocket 3, 725gm
Launched in early 2022 this UMPC has a 500-nit screen with 10 point touch and 284ppi. The SSD is PCIe4 connected for fast transfer speeds and the stylus is pressure sensitive. The body is aluminium and integrates USB-C, Ethernet and HDMI out of the box. There's an expansion module for additional connectivity. Only the Core i7 version comes with Thunderbol 4 support for docking stations, external GPUs and displays. USB A 3.2 Gen 2 ports are also included.
Microsoft Surface Duo, 250gm
A very significant departure for Microsoft - This is an Android-based smartphone. Two screens brought together through software, rather than it using a flexible display. In our opinion the Surface Duo targets productivity just like ultra-mobile PCs of 10-years ago. However, expectations are high and there are existing folding UMPCs to compete with.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 LTE, 272gm
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 LTE has a fab super-AMOLED hi-res 2048x1536 pixel 8 inch display with a 4:3 ratio. Essentially a smaller version of the 9.7 inch Tab S2, it is exceptionally lightweight and slim at 5.6mm. You get Samsung's multtasking split screen interface and a fingerprint scanner. The 8MP camera has a notable f1.9 aperture.
HP Envy Note 8, 360gm
The HP Envy Note 8 is an unusual looking tablet when docked in the keyboard because the accessory is a lot wider but the tablet can be used in landscape or portrait with it. The slate has a 2MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera. It is 7.7mm thin and fits onto the back of the keyboard (called the HP Envy Note Keyboard Folio). This device will remind you of the Acer Iconia W3. We have a lowish end processor here and seemingly low battery life as well so you may want to wait for some good deals.
Fujitsu Stylistic Q335 Mini Tablet, 399gm
The Fujitsu Stylistic Q335 8inch Mini Tablet has been designed for convenient ultra-mobility with Windows 8 productivity. The Atom processor gives it solid performance and a long battery life in mainstream computer usage. There are accessories such as the Folio Cover or TPU Case (with choice of hand or shoulder strap), also there is the ability to enhance device protection and productivity. Conversion cables are optional. Fujitsu are expecting usage to include tasks from the retail floor, to the classroom or corporate environment.
Lenovo Miix 3, 360gm
The Miix 3 8-inch (known as Miix 300 in some countries) is a budget Windows 8 inch tablet, lowish screen resolution but 2GB of RAM and 64GB of disk storage.
Archos 80 Cesium, 360gm
The Archos 80 Cesium is an 8" Windows 8.1 Tablet based on Intel's BayTrail Atom Z3735G SoC. It sports a resolution of 1280x800 pixels and the tablet offers a microHDMI port as well as a microUSB port. With 1GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC storage this device is not really suited for entering desktop windows, as both of it will quickly exceed its limits. If you stay in Metro mode most of the time this device might be sufficient.
Onda V891w, 415gm
The Onda W891 is a 8.9" tablet based on Intel's BayTrail Atom Z3735F processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage. The 8.9" multitouch IPS screen has a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi b/g/n are rather standard and we would have liked to see 5GHz WiFi band.
Odys Wintab 9 Plus 3G, 487gm
9-inch Windows tablets are growing in popularity and this low-cost OEM product under the Odys brand is a good example of how the segment is panning out with high-resolution screens. This model doesn't come with a keyboard dock or case.
Toshiba Encore 2 Write 8, 380gm
The Encore 2 Write tablets are a step up from the low-cost Toshiba Encore 2 tablets and come with 2GB RAM and 64GB SSD. Stereo speakers, micro USB, microSD and headset ports are included and on the 10-inch version you?ll find an HDMI port. The Encore 2 Write tablets come with an 8MP camera which, if it?s as good as the cam on the original Toshiba Encore, should be enough for some good snaps, business cards, whitebooards and the like. Toshiba are including their TruCapture software to help clean-up some of those captures. There?s a GPS included in the package which is going to help put location tags on your notes and images and the sensor pack also includes a digital compass. A 15Wh battery is included in the 8-inch tablet. Included in the deal is 1 year of Office 365 with 1TB storage.
Toshiba Satellite Click Mini, 450gm
The Toshiba Satellite Click Mini offers a lot of battery life and screen resolution for the money and unlike the ASUS Transformer Book T90 Chi (also launched at CES 2015) has an SD card slot and USB port in the keyboard and an HDMI output on the tablet. With a quoted 16 hours of video playback time this could be the long-distance travellers dream come true.
Asus Transformer Book T90 Chi, 400gm
Taking a Windows 8 tablet and integrating it with a keyboard the T90 Chi offers good value and light-weight ultra-mobile Windows computing.
HP Stream 8, 408gm
The HP Stream 8 is an 8" Windows 8.1 tablet based on the Intel Atom Z3735G Bay Trail platform. The 8" IPS screen has a 1280x800 resolution. One interesting feature (though most likely limited to the United States) is the 200MB of free 4G data that T-Mobile delivery without a signing a contract. The tablet includes Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy) and WiFi b/g/n. We would have loved to see more budget tablets to include 5GHz WiFi. The proclaimed battery life is 6.5hrs.
Acer Iconia Tab 8W, 371gm
The Acer Iconia Tab 8W is an 8" Windows 8.1 tablet based around the Intel Atom Z3735G Bay Trail Processor. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of soldered storage. It packs a 17Whr battery and has a proclaimed battery life of 8hrs. WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 are included.
Point of View Mobii WinTab 800W, 320gm
The Point of View Mobii WinTab 800W is an 8" Windows 8.1 tablet running on Intels Bay Trail platform. It unfortunately only comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of SSD storage. There is however a microSD card slot to expand the storage of the device. The 8" display features an 1280x800 pixels IPS panel for wide viewing angles. Both front- and backfacing cameras are 2MP shooters. For external monitor connections Point of View packed in a miniHDMI port.
Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8, 426gm
The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 is a Windows 8.1 with Bing powered 8" tablet running on Intels Atom Z3745 processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of Storage. The 8" screen packs a whopping 1920x1200 pixels resolution and offers 10 point multitouch capabilities. With Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi a/b/g/n it has standard wireless connections. We would have liked it to have WiFi 802.11ac to be a little bit more future proof. The proclaimed batterylife on this device is up to 15h which, if true, is very impressive.
Odys Wintab 8, 350gm
The Odys WinTab 8 is an 8" Windows 8.1 Tablet powered by Intels Bay Trail-T platform with an Intel Atom Z3735E quadcore processor. Built in is a microSDHC slot for expansion of storage of up to 32GB. 1GB of RAM seems a bit on the lower side of specs but for media entertainment purposes this should not play a bigger role. In terms of ports there is not much to be told exept the microUSB port which is host(OTG) capable and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Note that this device is sold at a sub 200$ price point.
Emdoor EM-i8080, 355gm
The Z3735G is a 4-core CPU running at 1.33Ghz to 1.8Ghz which isn’t bad. There’s little in terms of disk space though – 2GB available to the user on the system shown in the video below although we’re sure the device will ship with a few more than that.
Toshiba Encore 2 8, 380gm
The Toshiba Encore 2 8 is the first of the 2014 Windows 8 tablets on the refreshed Baytrail-T platform which is said to be smaller and cheaper for manufacturers. Performance is comparable with early 2014 Windows 8 tablets. The Encore 2 is lighter than the original Encore 8-inch but there's no HDMI and only a 1-year Office 365 package included rather than a full Home and Student licence.
ASUS Vivotab Note 8, 380gm
With the Wacom digitizer this is going to appeal to a lot of people. The price is good and the specs match many of the other 8-inch Windows tablets so the only thing left is to read through the reviews to make your choice!
Lenovo Thinkpad 8, 430gm
The Lenovo Thinkpad 8 (upgradeable to Windows 10) uses the high-end Baytrail-T platform from 2014 and takes the specs to the max possible. FullHD screen and 128GB SSD is more than you'll find on the consumer Baytrail-T products and, even in 2018 and 2019, allow the tablet to remain usable. Windows 10 upgrade is no problem at all.
Acer Iconia W4, 430gm
The Acer Iconia W4 is another 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet but this has 10-point touch, an HDMI output, microSD card slot and micro USB making it interesting in terms of connectivity.
Lenovo Miix 2 8, 350gm
The Lenovo Miix2 brings some interesting options to the table for 8.1-inch Windows tablets. Digitizer, 128GB storage, case and more. It starts at $299 for the 32GB version.
Dell Venue 8 Pro, 395gm
The Dell Venue 8 Pro offers a small-screen tablet experience with optional digitizer making it an intresting pro-level device. Baytrail-T at 1.33Ghz (quad-core) should make it faster than the Clovertrail tablets of 2012/2013 too. A great addition to the sub-10" segment.
Toshiba Encore WT8, 430gm
The Toshiba Encore is one of the first of the Baytrail-T PCs and one of the first of the 8-inch tablets. It falls under the Microsoft Small Screen program and therefore gets Office Home and Student, full version, included. At 480gm it should offer very consumer/consumption focused usage and the price, starting at 299 Euro, is extremely good.
Acer W3-810, 500gm
Rumors started in April about this 8-inch Windows tablet but now it's official. The Acer W3-810 is listed with 2GB RAM, 64GB storage in silver for £469 which, after removing tax, is the equivalent of about the same in dollars. It's the first sub-10-inch Windows 8 tablet.
HP Slate 2, 690gm
The HP Slate 2 is a Windows 7 Tablet powered by an Intel Atom Z670 clocked at 1.5 GHz. It has up to 64GB mSATA Storage and should last with its 2-cell (30WHr) battery up to 7.5 hours. With the possibility to add the Tablet to the optional dock one can have 2 more USB 2.0 ports plus the ability to extend the screen via HDMI to another device.
Pantech Element
Lenovo IdeaTab K2110
Archos 80 (G9), 482gm
Certainly one of the most unique Honeycomb tablets yet announced. The Archos 80 (G9) offers two distinct memory options, 16GB flash or 250GB of HDD storage. The 250GB version is slightly thicker and heavier (size/weight listed in our database is the 16GB version). For $49 you can purchase an unlocked 3G USB modem which docks seamlessly into a slot in the back of the device. This modem will also work with PCs.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, 470gm
LG G-Slate, 621gm
Sony Vaio, 632gm
Another well specified clamshell-style UMPC. Slightly too wide for thumb typing but wide enough for a touch-typing experience. 1.8Ghz, 2GB RAM and SSD helps with speed and this should make quite a rugged travel computer too.
HP Slate, 700gm
Great progress for small form-factor slates. The 1.86Ghz CPU coupled with 2GB of RAM and, if fast, the 64GB SSD should drive WIndows 7 well. Capacative and Digitiser screen, 680gm and a great price means this is a leading UMPC right now.
Netbook Navigator Nav 9, 900gm
With multitouch, a tablet-enable build of Windows 7 (premium,) 2GB RAM, a 900gm weight and good entry level price, the Nav 9 helps to bring true, productive tablet PCs to the masses. Our only concern is the very small battery which we estimate to be worth up to a maximum of only 2.5 hours. An extended battery (about 150% capacity) will bring the capacity up to around 4 hours and at %50, is recommended because it's a custom install. Included carrying case and car charger rounds off a nice package. Note: 3G retro-fit should be possible with a PCI-Express mini module. (Unconfirmed) Question remains about removable battery. (We suspect not.)
Options exist for 32, 64 and 128GB SSD.
Mobinnova Beam, 836gm
If the Beam includes a true, Google, Android OS this will be one of the first ever non-phone products to be approved by Google. If not, the Android experience will be incomplete. (No marketplace or Google apps.) Build quality seems to be very good, it's lightweight and if the price is right, this really could be an interesting netbook / smartbook
Asus Eee PC T91MT, 953gm
With a weight of under 1kg and a very small size, it's going to be interesting for mobile users.
Archos 9, 800gm
A 9" Tablet-style PC is a rare occurrence. This is a Windows 7-based device that focuses on media. The chipset included is capable of 1080p and Windows 7 can certainly drive H.264 up to extremely high bitrates but the 1.1Ghz CPU with the 4200RPM hard drive seems to slow this device down to 'boring' levels.
Always Innovating Touchbook, 900gm
Dell Vostro A90, 1072gm
HP Mini 1000, 1021gm
Sony Vaio P500, 635gm
ASUS Eee PC T91, 980gm
With a weight of under 1kg and a very small size, it's going to be interesting for mobile users.
Kohjinsha ML6, 992gm
HP Mini 1000, 1021gm
NEC Lavie Light, 1191gm
ASUS Eee PC 901 Go, 1140gm
One of the leading contenders in the netbook market due to its long battery life, smaller sizing and huge community. Especially interesting for mobile users due to its size. Pricing should be 'Zero' with a 25 Euro/Month 10GB plan.
Asus Eee PC 904HA, 1361gm
Asus Eee PC 900HA
Toshiba Satellite NB100, 992gm
Sungju Tango Toy, 964gm
MSI Wind U90, 1200gm
Excelent keyboard, good quality build. Everything works! 3-cell Battery life gets a minus-point but apart from that - highly recommended.
Lenovo IdeaPad S9, 1077gm
Asus Eee PC 904HD, 1417gm
Fujitsu P1630, 1000gm
Fujitsu Amilo Mini, 1000gm
ASUS Eee PC 900A, 990gm
ASUS Eee PC 901, 1140gm
One of the leading contenders in the netbook market due to its long battery life, smaller sizing and huge community. Especially interesting for mobile users due to its size.
Gigabyte M912X, 1350gm
Using the Intel low-cost notebook platform, this could be a very good value challenger to other touchscreen convertibles like the VyeS37 and the Flybook V5. The battery capacity is good, the high resolution touchscreen, ExpressCard34 slot and 2.5" hard disk set it apart from the low-end netbooks that are available.
Kohjinsha SX3, 1200gm
Dell Inspiron Mini 9, 1070gm
Acer Aspire One, 950gm
Feedback is good on this device. The keyboard, at nearly 80% of full size, is better than the Eee 7xx and 9xx options. Trackpad button layout isnt standard but allows keyboard to be deeper. SSD speed is low-class. XP/HDD version recommended.
ASUS Eee PC 901, 1140gm
One of the leading contenders in the netbook market due to its long battery life, smaller sizing and huge community. Especially interesting for mobile users due to its size.
Gigabyte M912M, 1350gm
A netbook with a difference. Despite the relatively heavy 1.35KG, this is a device you can use in some UMPC-like scenarios. The touchscreen is fun to use.
Having tested this device, we found it to be very fast due to the high-speed 160GB SATA drive. Battery life is near 3 hours with Wifi on. Touchpad good quality. 2GB upgrade easy. BT 2.1 was included on our test device.
VIA OpenBook Mini-Note, 1000gm
Based on 1.6Ghz VIA C7 + VX800 should provide a acceptable desktop experience and with the 3G options, some very capable mobile devices.
CTL 2Go, 1360gm
Not a consumer-focused design in our opinion. Much heavier than the Eee PC 900 and with 800x480 on the 9" screen, it will lack the productive screen space of the 900 too.
HP 2133 Mininote, 1200gm
It's debateable that this is within the boundaries of the UMPC definition but at under 1.3KG it's definately a lighweight device. Attractive, semi-rugged and targeted at the education market.
The VIA C7-M at 1Ghz will be too slow for some but with the 1.6Ghz VIA C7 option it should make a very nice, portable and strong mininote.
ASUS Eee PC 900 Windows, 940gm
The 8.9" screen fixes one of the few problems of the Eee PC 701 and brings the resolution up to something most people would regard as a minimum for Windows XP. There is a minimal, almost undetectable difference in the size of the overall device.
Everex Cloudbook Max, 1000gm
Above-Net TopExec, 1190gm
ECS G10IL, 1200gm
Slightly bigger and better specification than the Eee PC indicates a different target customer and price. A possible competitor for the HP 2133
ASUS Eee PC 900 Linux, 940gm
The 8.9" screen fixes one of the few problems of the Eee PC 701 and brings the resolution up to something most people would regard as a minimum for Windows XP. There is a minimal, almost undetectable difference in the size of the overall device.

Flybook V33, 1230gm
Paceblade Easybook P8, 1190gm
Flybook A33, 1200gm
Fujitsu P1510D, 1000gm
A lovely looking mulipurpose convertable tablet. It would suit a UMPC user looking for more processing power and the flexibility of having a keyboard.
JVC XP741, 950gm
ECS EZ30D, 1140gm
Motion Computing LS800, 1000gm
